Zane's Perspective

I wake up to the sound of running nurses and doctors, and machines beeping, and I open my eyes. I look to my side and see Nelly sitting a chair with wide eyes.

"You're okay!," Nelly says, "you were drunk at the bar and you collapsed! I had to call 9-1-1, I am sorry."

"I'm going to jail?," Zane asks.

"Not for long, I can bail you out," she says, "Your parents don't have to know about this."

"Whew," I sigh, "thanks."

I suddenly snap out of the flashback and I look around me. Yep. It's real life. I am still kidnapped by my friend, or who I thought was my friend, Rob. He wants the secret because his family have been looking for it for so long. It has been days that I have been here, maybe even weeks. I don't know any more. I just can't wait to get out of here. If I can make it out alive.

And, all of the sudden, someone is thrown in.

"Zane?!," she yells.

"Nelly?!," I yell.

The door behind her slams shut and she falls on her face. She runs to me and kisses me, crying.

"I thought you were dead," Nelly says, "but it is impossible. I thought they found your dead body?"

"Rob has his ways. There was a look alike, and he was killed," I say.

"Rob killed a man?!," Nelly yells.

"No," I respond, "he is working with others. He is hiding more than you think. He is working with people higher up. And how did you get here?"

"I went to the crime scene where you supposedly died," Nelly says, "and I lied, talking to myself, saying that I knew the secret because I knew whoever was behind this was listening. So I knew that in that way, I could find out who they were and kill them, for killing you. Although, now I know you aren't dead. So here I am. And I have a question, why would Rob want everyone to think you are dead?"

"To hold me here as long as it takes to get the secret out of me and nobody would be looking for me," I respond.

"Oh," Nelly says, "so what is the hype over this damn secret anyway?!?!"

"Well," I say, "it's dangerous. I can't give it to you or they would torture you for it as well."

"Ugh," Nelly growls, "I just want out of here."

"So do I," I say, "it's a price that the secret comes with."

"I have never been able to understand why everyone is after it," Nelly says, "It's just a secret. Like, why can't people just get over it?"

Suddenly, one masked guard comes in and shuts the door behind him. He comes in with whips and starts whipping me.

"Stop it!," Nelly says, trying to pull him away.

"Give us the secret!," the man yells, this time it isn't Rob's voice.

Little does the guard know, Nelly grabbed the keys from his belt and opened the door. She took the gun on his belt and shot him from behind. He fell on the ground as I get up and take off his mask.

"What are you doing?!," Nelly says, "Come on! We have got to go!"

I take off the mask and I recognize who this is.

"You just shot," I start but I am cut off by Nelly.

Nelly's well up with tears and finishes my sentence, "The president?!"
