Chapter 39: Waking Up

Nelly's Perspective

I suddenly feel conscious as I stare into the darkness of my mind and I hear voices.

"Please, one more moment." I hear Zane saying.

"Okay. You have 3 minutes." The other person says.

I slowly open my eyes and see Zane staring down at me.

It suddenly hits me. I remember Zane having to kill Henry to save my life, escaping Henry's place, and discovering that it was the end of world as fire began falling from the sky among other things.

"What's going on?" I ask Zane as I see an angel leave us. "Is that an angel?"

"Yes." Zane answers me. "Listen, I don't have much time to explain, I'll be quick. I have 3 minutes to spend with you. The angels are going to sacrifice me to save your life so you can be protector of the secret. That way, the world will not come to an end. I ran out of chances and the Angels are being merciful."

"Oh my god." I say as tears filter my eyes. "Don't say it's so. Don't tell me that I can only see you for three minutes before you're gone forever."

"I love you, Nelly." He says with tears in his eyes, stopping me. "I would do anything for you. Including sacrifice myself in order to save yours. I'm doing it."

"Zane, please don't do this." I whisper as I grab him, trying to knock some sense into him, as he stops me again.

He quickly leans in and breathes as his lips touch mine. I kiss him back as my body seems to levitate into him.

He breathes quickly as do I as we continue this passionate kiss.

Within the blink of an eye, he vanishes. I stand and look around before I realize he's actually, really... gone.

"Noooo!!!!!" I scream and cry as my knees fall to the ground and I breakdown, "NOOOO!!!!!"
