The thing about Havershem is that it is so sad, depressing and, for new comers, scary. The reception is 'inspiring' and 'uplifting' with posters about how, here at Havershem, we aim to give our patients the best care possible. Then you go through a corridor which has lost much of its life but isn't exactly depressing, there's just not much effort put into it, when you reach the offices. This is where people come to be assessed and even apply for their children or partners to get 'cured' here.
Then you see where the patients are kept. When you walk through the door to the main building, you can hear the distant screams of the patients in their cells, the hoarse, needy screams begging the person whom the voice came from to be let out of this place.
Most people will never experience insanity. Most people never even think about it, or put the thought to the back of their minds. Everyone has a little insanity inside them, but what labels someone as 'insane' is the way they deal with their emotions. You don't know how it feels to know what is happening, know what you're saying and yet it's not right; something is wrong and you can't form the words, you can't control your emotions... the anger. When anger takes over your body shakes, you see red and you lose control. It often ends in the worst possible way. Being locked up in a tiny cell all alone with only yourself to talk to. To yourself, you're the only sane person in a mental asylum.
The day I got admitted to Havershem was the worst day of my life.
