This Is My Friend

*September 2009*

It was the first day of school, and Elena Gilbert and I made plans to go to school together with Bonnie. So I went over to Elena's house.

"Hey Jenna"

"Alex! Hey, Elena is upstairs" I nodded as I went upstairs to see Elena writing in her diary.

"Hey, you okay?"

"Yeah" she gave me a slight smile "I'll be down in a bit"

"No rush" I nodded as I went downstairs as I was drinking coffee when Elena came down.

"I can make toast!" Her aunt Jenna suggested.

"It's all about the coffee, Aunt Jenna"

Jeremy, Elena's younger brother walked in "is there coffee?" He asked.

Jenna a bit frantic "your first day of school and I'm totally unprepared" Elena poured Jeremy a cup of coffee.

She walked over to the three of us "lunch money?"

"I'm good" Elena told her "me too" I nodded.

Jeremy took the money and put it in his pocket "do you guys need anything else? A number two pencil?" She joked "what am I missing?" She asked.

"Don't you have a big presentation today?" I asked her.

"I'm meeting with my thesis advisor at" she looked at her watch "now, crap"

"Go, we'll be fine" Elena told her.

Jenna practically ran out of the house, Elena turned to her brother "you ok?" She asked me as I finished my coffee.

"Don't start" Jeremy scoffed as he walked out of the kitchen drinking his coffee.

She turned around and looked at me "he will come around Elena, give him time" I told her.

"I just worry about him"

"I do too" I smiled "also whenever I stay here gets too much you let me know" I told her.

"You have been saying that since you first came over! You are practically family at this point Alex" she smiled at me.

Bonnie came to pick both of us up as she drove us to school.

"So Grams is telling me, I'm psychic" She tells us "our ancestors were from Salem which isn't all that, I know, crazy, but she's going on and on about it. And I'm like, put this woman in a home already. But then I started thinking, I predicted Obama and I predicted Heath Ledger and I still think Florida will break off and turn into little resort islands"

"I think that too Bon"

"Right?" Bonnie glanced back at me for a second whereas Elena was completely out of it.

Bonnie looked at Elena twice "Elena! Back in the car"

"I did it again, didn't I?" She asked "I'm sorry Bonnie, you were telling me that..."

"I'm psychic now" Bonnie finished Elena's sentence.

"Right, okay then predict something" Elena suggested to her best friend "about me"

Bonnie sighed as she glanced at Elena "I see" something hit the car as Bonnie and Elena freaked. Bonnie swerved the car "what was that?! Oh my god?"

"Are you two okay?!" I asked them.

"I think so" Bonnie nodded.

"Elena?" I asked as I placed my hand on the back of her shoulder "you okay?"
