Here's To You, Max

"Okay" I sighed as there was a knock on the door as I went over to get the door "Elena"

"Hi, I'm came over to see you were doing, all of you"

"Great timing" I told her "we're about to have a drink in honor of Max, want to come in?"

"You sure?"

"Yeah" I smiled "Max would've liked you"

"He would've loved Elena" Lexi laughed.

Stefan handed her a drink as we raised our drinks.

"Here is to you Max" I smiled as I looked at Lexi "you were always there for me, my best friend" I wanted to say more but I couldn't "I will always miss you buddy"

"Max" Lexi sighed "you saved my life" tears formed in her eyes as I grabbed her hand "I'm going to miss you so much"

"Hell of a pool buddy" Stefan smiled as I laughed.

"To Max" Elena nodded as we all nodded and said together "to Max" as we drank.

Lexi and I sat down as Stefan and Elena sat down.

"How did you meet Max?" Elena asked us.

"Well I met Max first" I smiled "I went to a bar and he was there, we just clicked. he was just this amazing presence. Whenever you were with him, you were smiling and laughing and he was always honest with you. Then when Lexi came to visit me one day, I introduced her and Max and the three of us became best friends"

Lexi smiled "Max knew how to have a great time! One time we performed at a gay bar in New York City remember that?" Lexi asked me as I laughed.

"That was hilarious!" I smiled "Max was the star of the show of course"

"But he was always there for us no matter how far away we were from each other"

I nodded "I had um" I paused as Lexi grabbed my hand "I have a friend die in 1990 and Max was, he was in New York running a show and Lexi was..."

"I was in California, we both rushed to be with her because we both knew how much she needed us both"

"Wow, that's beautiful" Elena smiled.

"Who was the friend?" Stefan asked as Lexi looked at me and I looked at Stefan.

"Just a friend" I nodded.

"I should probably go" Elena got up and glanced at Stefan "it was lovely to meet you Lexi"

"You too Elena"

"Alex, call me if you need me" she held my hand.

"I will" I nodded "thank you for coming" she left.

"I'll go pack for New York!" Lexi left as Stefan glanced at me.

"Your friend... who was he really?"

"You knew him" I told Stefan "you knew him a lot but this was around when you  went off the bender so you weren't around him much"

"Who was he Allie?"

I shook my head "I can't do this, I have to go pack" I left and went up to my room.

"You should tell him"

"Lexi, he couldn't handle it and you know it"

We all went downstairs as Lexi said goodbye to Stefan and went to the car.

"You have to go?" Stefan asked me "what if we need you?"

"I'll be gone for a day or two Stefan" I smiled "you should be fine"
