"Will you marry me?"

The words echoed through my ears while the sun reached its peak in the sky, casting over us.

"Woah..."

"Woah?" Katherine repeated, smirking.

With a growing smile, I pulled Katherine up, out of her kneeling position and into me, wrapping my arms around her.

"I mean, yes. Of course, I will marry you!" My nibble fingers curled into her shirt as I let out an animated sigh into her shoulder. "Yes!"

Katherine squealed, returning my embrace with just as much excitement. The energy was practically swirling around us- invisible but felt.

"You had me worried for a moment there on whether I chose the right timing."

"No. No," I shook my head. "You've just surprised me, really. I mean, we've never really talked about it."

"Isn't this what you wanted?" She wondered, baffled. "Aren't girls always dreaming about their wedding days growing up?"

She did have a point. And, I suppose a younger me did have her moments dreaming about getting married one day, some place outdoors, surrounded by our loved ones. But, I didn't have a face to pair my spouse with back then. I didn't know it would be Katherine.

And, that changes everything.

"Sure, but I guess what I'm saying is... I never really thought about it with you because, well, our connection stems deeper than marriage."

I let my arms slip from around her torso, and I reached for her hands, intertwining our fingers. Her mystical blue orbs reflected the love within her heart as I gazed into them, admiringly.

"I didn't think I'd have to declare it to the world because all that matters to me is... you."

Katherine's lips upturned into the most glorious smile as she brought my knuckles to her lips, kissing each individual one, prior to letting my hands go and walking away from me, seemingly searching for something. Her eyes lit up when she had found the perfect one in her eye's view, bringing me a freshly picked white tulip, twirling the stem a couple of times before grabbing hold of my left hand.

I stared at her, amused, my eyes beaming as I soon watched her wrap the stem around my finger, meticulously slow and gentle, as if her vows were etched onto the delicate flower. She then tore off the joined pedals before combing her fingers through my hair, prior to pinning the decorative piece into it.

I smiled as I lightly brushed my fingers over the pale flower in my hair while my eyes narrowed down at my ring finger that now had something symbolizing a marriage to come- a marriage with an angel. Was this a dream? Did I somehow dream all of this?

The reality was too perfect. She was too perfect.

She tugged her lower lip in between her teeth, smiling, as she brushed a thumb over my finger, which now had the stem of the tulip wrapped around it.

Looking into my eyes with a deep appreciation for beauty within hers, she spoke.

"Until I get a ring crafted for you."

The atmospheric beauty, with all of nature's sounds and colorful scenery, couldn't compare to the look Katherine was giving me within her crystalized eyes. We'd found our sanctuary together. Right here. Within each other.

I was determined to remind her everyday of how much she meant to me.

"You're going to craft a ring for me?" That sounded... expensive and unnecessary.
