The sun was rising again, the familiar yellows and reds filling the horizons, waking the wildlife. And, what brilliance was the guarantee of sunrise? It was like a promise. The sun would always rise the next day. It was set in stone- written in time. A known occurrence that would happen again and again. Over and over.

That same light had seeped through Katherine's bedroom window and shined over me, giving my lightly-tanned skin an orange-yellow nuance.

I stirred in my sleep, mumbling incoherent thoughts as I unconsciously reached my arm out, reaching where Katherine would be, except my arm only felt air and landed on the cold vacant sheets.

My eyes were half-lidded as I scooted closer and grabbed something soft. I murmured, pulling the soft object against my chest.

"Katherine..."

It was cold.

"Katherine..?"

My eyes slowly flickered open, and they soon widened as an abrupt fear rushed through me in waves. I shifted from under the sheets and released the pillow I had snuggled against my chest before feeling the bedding of Katherine's side, wondering where she had gone.

"Is she okay?" I thought. Why didn't she wake me up?

Before my mind could travel any further on the infinite possibilities of Katherine's whereabouts, I soon heard her tender angelic voice.

"Don't worry. I'm still here," she soothed, seemingly having read my mind.

I smiled, sheepishly, as I turned my head and focused on her. She stood at the center of the open door, the frames on either side of her, making her look like the muse of a picture. She wore a black sports bra along with the matching black sports shorts. Her hair was a vibrant dirty blond in which became lighter at the tips, contrasting with the darker tones of her attire, and it was smoothed into a high ponytail.

"I never pictured angels wearing all black." My eyes traveled up her body and reached her eyes, stopping there. "But, you wear it well."

Her mystical blue eyes would always pull me into her trance. Everything about her would. Her whole aura was captivating, and I gladly gave in to her, wanting nothing more than to be encircled in everything that was her.

She arched a brow, a small smile forming on her thin lips.

"Ah, yea? Let me guess. You expected for me to wear only white?" She took slow steps towards the bed, her eyes fixated on mine.

"Um... yes?" I squealed as the weight of the bed soon shifted, her hands sinking in the mattress, her knees next, as she crawled towards me, her smile beaming.

"An old stereotype."

Her hands soon reached mine, and her fingers slowly slid in between the spaces between my fingers. My heart skipped a beat.

"Oh... is it?" My cheeks reddened, and I shyly looked away while biting my lower lip.

Katherine giggled, and my embarrassment deepened.

"Well... where were you so early?"

"I was out for a jog. I wanted to clear my mind."

"Oh," I breathed.

She must had been thinking about the magical being who was lurking somewhere nearby. It gave me a chill just thinking about the person... could I call them a person? A sorcerer? Another angel? Who knows.

"I would have gone with you if you had woken me up. It's only..." my eyes flashed as it then had dawn on me that it was a school day. "Oh my gosh, Katherine. School!"
