The gentle song of the birds, from outside our bedroom window, filled the colorful room with its dreamlike serenity. The sun was just now rising to the horizons, orange and reds giving a soft warm glow over Katherine's skin as she faced me, though with eyes closed, her head resting over the silk pillow. She stood out under the fluorescence like the true angel she was.

A minuscule smile had stretched across my lips as I scooted closer to her, combing my lithe fingers through her blond strands. Absentmindedly, my eyes narrowed down to the curvature of her lips, my thoughts drifting back to the exact moment her lips had matched mine with just as much desperation as I had been feeling for a while. I remembered how rugged her hot breath was as she breathed in between our heated kisses. The moment she came to the same realization that I had- that we belonged together.

No such fate could stir my thoughts in any other direction.

I soon fell into a seamless trance, my fingers moving on their own through her dirty blond streaks.

The pouring rain was subsiding, the evaporating water dissipating into a vibrant rainbow, reflecting off of a puddle beside us, though something was still undecided in Eve's eyes as they fixated on the stars.

There was a shift within them- those mysterious chocolate brown eyes- while they had landed upon us. If I wasn't really focusing on them, I wouldn't have caught it.

"Only time will tell," was Eve's last response while giving us a lingering glance, something hidden deep within her steady pupils.

Her eyes soon shut, and, within seconds, she vanished from our sight with a glimmer of a smile resting over her lips.

I watched as she left, feeling Katherine's body press against me, her hand rubbing down my arms, soothingly.

Approaching, Jack stopped a few feet away from the two of us, who were pressed against each other, so closely, still a little shaken by all of the events that had unfolded that night.

Jack's lips curved into a beaming smile as he stared at me, as though he were anticipating when my eyes would reach his. When I met his gaze, his eyes squinted, a jubilance reaching them.

"I'm really glad you're safe, Angelica." He then paused and scratched his head, his eyes averting elsewhere. "A-and you too, Katherine. That we all are."

Katherine, surprising me, nodded in his direction while giving him an earnest smile, no ounce of jealousy within them. I guess she had finally accepted that it hadn't mattered who else looked at me with such eyes, for I only truly saw deeply through hers.

Adam joined Jack's side, resting his hands on his hip, letting his weight shift to his left side.

"I will dearly miss you all," He spoke while feigning wiping tears away from his eyes.

Jack wrapped an arm around Adam's shoulders, grinning.

"You too, man."

"Thanks for everything," Katherine voiced, appreciatively, to which I had agreed with.

Honestly, if it wasn't for Adam, things could had ended very differently. Who knew if we would had ended up torn apart again?

The two of them soon departed from the forest, and Katherine and I were left alone to finally be able to wrap our minds around everything.

Katherine combed a hand through my hair before brushing her hands over my cheeks, letting her thumbs roll over them, gently. Her eyes sought mine, holding a gentle fondness deep within her irises.

"Even Adam is intrigued by you." Katherine's voice was sweet and melodic, lighter now that we were at ease. Even her smile seemed weightless.

I shook my head, amused by her comment. "No..."
