The sky was a clear blue color, with patches of lighter hues, though wisps of grey-white clouds soon formed and crept forward from the distance. The atmosphere was lively and filled with young energy as animals scurried across the field, some in packs; others in solitude. I stood over the grassy hill, with a white tulip gently cradled in my hands. My deep-ocean eyes were half-lidded as I stared at the flower with a gentle fondness, the pedals shimmering under the sun's light; the air pungent with the floral scent.

I had never desired anything.

"Angelica. Angelica." A boy hissed at me.

I smiled sweetly and responded with a soft "yes?", despite his scorn.

"Don't you find it ironic how your name means 'angel'? I mean no one thinks you're pretty. You wear the ugliest clothing, and you always have your hair in that pony tail of yours." He then reached towards my pony tail, threatening to tear it off. "You could be so much prettier if you would just let your hair down once in a while."

I grew accustomed to my little world that left my heart feeling empty and cold.

"What's the matter with you, Rat? You spoiled punk!" I continued to sob as I remained speechless.

"Daddy... I-I had a... rough day..." I cried in between breaths.

"Oh stop it!" He dragged me into the house by my hair, then slammed the door behind him, before smacking my face brutally.

I never knew I could be happy. I never knew I could find love.

"This is why, if you must know. This is why I sped away." I closed my eyes as I turned my head to the side, still under her, encaged by her arms.

She arched a brow. "Aha. Because, you thought I would fall on you? Because, I'm that clumsy?" She laughed. "I guess I've proven to be just that." She confirmed, still laughing.

And, with a feverish mind and a trembling heart, love, originating somewhere within the deepest chambers of my pounding heart, had resuscitated, filling me whole until I was engulfed in it.

I shook my head. "No. Because... you... you just." I gulped. What was I doing? "You make me feel complete. Being around you makes me feel happier than I ever thought I could feel. And, it surprises me how fond I am of you." I bit my lip. "I never felt this before, and I don't know what to do about it but run."

It's when I had met you- my sun.

A smile soon crept on my lips as they had lightly brushed Katherine's. Our lips moved rhythmically with each other's, growing more and more intense, but never once did one of our tongues slip into the other's mouth.

You would shine over me, alleviating the darkness with your fortifying glow.

The kiss was calm and a little hesitant, but it was definitely a sweet kiss. A more polite one.

With eyes so intense with passion, and an aura so refined and attuned with bewitchment, I had fallen under your lovely conjuring spell.

Trickles of water soon streamed down my sun-kissed skin, a cooling remedy to my numbing limbs. Looking up, I soon recognized the changing sky, the grey clouds having filled the entire sky, filling the atmosphere with its gloomy presence. Collecting in clusters, the liquid splashed over the grass, the soft ambience sounding loud in my ears as I stood too close- to anyone's comfort- to the edge of the cliff, peering out over the horizon of the city. With my hands raised and my arms extended out, on either side of me, I slowly shut my eyes and inhaled deeply.

"Does it not bother you that we never had a choice to be with each other? That our choice was already given to us?"

Though absent, my mind would replay the events of nights prior, on repeat. And, each time, I tried to wrap my brain around everything that had happened, growing tolerant and detached from the emotions that had threatened to pour out of me and deteriorate me.
