Above the clouds, there's a timeless zone that no one knows about. Everything started here...
"Have a good day, Ms. Hale."
As those words echoed in my ears, terror ran through me.
Could this really happen? Could we really be stuck in the past?
In this world, time moves slowly.
People...
"Kat- Ms. Hale," I quickly corrected myself in order to avoid suspicion from my old/new classmates.
Nature...
The wind outside didn't go unnoticed as it had practically banged against the windows, causing for one to abruptly open.
Everything.
Katherine gulped as she stared at me, clasping her hands together. I knew she was trying her very best to stay calm. But, in her head, she must had been screaming.
"Yes, Angelica?" She watched as the students began packing their things, getting ready to leave. The bell had just rung. Saved by the bell.
I watched the students as they filed out the door, one by one, before I locked eyes with my old/new teacher.
"Katherine..."
I dropped my voice to a whisper as I reached out to grab her hands, gripping them tightly.
"Why are we here?"
I asked her the question already really knowing that she was dumbfounded by it just as much as I was.
The concept of time has always been there.
She quickly rushed to the door to shut and lock it. Holding the knob with her right hand, and holding my hands with her left, she then swiftly turned around to face me.
"I-I don't know, Angelica. It seems like we are stuck in a loop."
It marked the beginning...
"A loop..?"
...and it would foresee the end.
"Yes. We're reliving a past life."
I felt my eyes flickering as I stood there in utter disbelief.
If there's anything I have learned from this world, it's that-
Her eyes then dampened as they lowered to the ground. "Now, you are not safe."
It took my mind a moment to completely register what was happening. So, we were stuck in the past. And, from what I could remember, I had a rough life. A very rough life.
Did that mean everything would remain the same as it had before?
I felt a cold shiver running down my spine as the darker thoughts of my past self began to resurface. I never was a bad person, but bad things always did happen to me- it would seem.
Katherine bit her lip before she rested her hands on my shoulders. She was hesitant, at first, probably due to the thought of her being my teacher lingering in her mind, but she decided to do so anyways.
I saw the saddened look in her eyes, and I forged a minuscule smile, for her sake.
"It's okay. Everything will be okay, Katherine. I mean, you are here." My faux smile felt more genuine as I then concluded with "You can protect me. With you, I know I will be safe."
My words, despite my hope, didn't seem to bring her much comfort, for her icy-blue orbs still seemed to lose their spark in them as they narrowed downward at the floor.
