5th of January 1761

Y/N's POV

George and I walked slowly behind Oliver who was accompanied by another guard I was yet to be introduced to. They both wore plain clothing, a major contrast to their normal royal red, uniforms. I held onto George's arm tightly, the anxiety from the fact I was stood on a boat only just catching up to me.

"George, why is everyone wearing normal clothes?" I thought I knew the answer, however I felt the want for truth, overwhelm me. George looks down at me, chuckling.

"Well, I felt it would have been more respectful to you, besides, an unannounced visit would interest people, perhaps too much." I cocked my head slightly at George's answer as we slowly made our way towards a carriage that had been prepared.

King George's POV

"Is she okay, your majesty?" Samuel looked up at me as we stood in the driveway of Y/N's house as Y/N's figure ran away from us, through a small side-gate and towards the backdoor of the stone brick, house. The crunching of hooves against gravel indicated our carriage pulling out of the driveway, leaving us.

I turned to face Samuel sighing as he cocked his head slightly.

"I don't think so, her mother is dying Samuel."

We both turned as the sound of hooves against concrete rang out through the driveway, a second carriage drawing to a halt. I smiled slightly as Aoibhinn and Oliver emerged from the carriage, greeting Samuel and me.

"Where's Y/N?" Aoibhinn whispered, her brows furrowed, her eyes searching for any sign of the female.

"We are going to wait outside for a while Aoibhinn. Let's give her ten-minutes alone."

Y/N's POV

I slowly pushed through the door my warm hands on the cool surface, the sound of eerie creaking from the door, and my light breathing mixed with my slow, cautious footsteps as I slowly crept through the door closing it gently behind me.

I walked through the large, darkened kitchen as my eyes passed over the dirty dishes strewn across the wooden surfaces- all of which were cast in dark shadows that made the room ominous, as I felt the blood slowly drain from my face, my chest constricting as I felt the heat leave my cheeks.

My eyes fell upon a slip of parchment folded neatly on the worktop. Picking it up in my hand I carefully unfolded it, the dark ink imprinting in my mind.

Stable work done, doctor's visit in three days.
