17th of January 1761

Y/N's POV

I sighed slightly at the overwhelming task that lay before me. My eyes falling on the door of a room I didn't want to enter; the room that held memories I didn't want to remember. I felt my jaw clench as I took a deep breath, working up the courage to enter the room.

Slowly I turned the door handle the cool, hard metal sending a shiver through my body as I exhaled, feeling the click of the door opening as I slowly pushed my way into the dark room, my eyes adjusting to the light.

Quickly, biting the bullet I made my way over to the large windows, the daylight being shadowed by the drapes, the folds of my simple black dress flowing behind me as I walked. Cautiously, I reached up, pulling the layers of thin chiffon-like fabric back as I drew open the curtains. Light spilled into the room as I stopped, rubbing my eyes slightly as they adjusted to the bright daylight.

"Alright-" I whispered in an attempt to reassure myself as I turned around, gazing across the room. It had been left the exact same and it needed a good cleaning.

Slowly I peeled back the bedsheets, revealing the mattress underneath as I placed them in the laundry basket in the corner of the room quickly running my hands through my loose H/C strands.

I began slowly wiping down the surfaces, dusting them with a cloth as I removed all of my mother's belongings, draping the large furniture in dust sheets as I held back my pained emotions.

George had been extremely distant since the previous evening; in fact I don't think we had spoken a single word to one another. I felt terrible but Ireland was my home. My family was here; perhaps not physically, but in spirit. The horses were here and that was my plan; I would dedicate my life to them, to caring for them and training them; giving them the best life possible.

Samuel's POV

"George, is everything okay? How did it go?" I looked at the king who sat in front of me, he was surprisingly well dressed, his cocoa brown hair well styled.

We both sat in the living room of Y/N's house yet again, however this time the room was slightly messier. The decorative pillows adorning the sofa had morphed out of shape from out constant sitting, the coffee table in front of us scattered with various correspondence between us and the royal advisors who remained in Windsor. The curtains were drawn only slightly, allowing partial daylight into the room.

"We leave tomorrow, with Y/N." I furrowed my brow as I noticed the slight hint of hurt in his voice, as my gaze fell upon the slight scowl on his face. I felt my mouth morph into an 'o' shape as I began to realise how George's conversation must have gone with Y/N.
