✧・゚: Chapter 43 - The Mistake *:・゚✧

31th of January 1761

George's POV

The dim, flickering light illuminates the otherwise dark study, the small window only providing a dusky glow.

I'm seated in my Study, at ease. My legs are crossed in front of me as I lean back against the cushion of the chair.

I feel an exhausted sigh leave my lips as I realised that all my catching up was over me, the pile of work on my desk dwindled down to just the remaining Hammersmith case file, as the proceedings were still in progress.

I had yet to discuss Y/N's actions with her, however I needed to discuss them tonight before she went to sleep. I had summoned Samuel to my study. He sat opposite me a slight smile on his face.

I had been briefly discussing Y/N's behaviour with Samuel trying to find some form of solution, something that would make her say; slowly coming to the realisation that I only had one bargaining chip remaining.

"Samuel, perhaps we should allow her to see the horses after all. I'm not sure how else I could convince her to stay."

Samuel nodded, obviously drawing the same conclusions in her own mind.

"As much as I love her, we can't allow her to destroy the people's trust in me. If they hear-" Samuel hums, nodding in agreement as I decide not to finish my sentence.

"George, maybe if you tell her about the horses, she will realise that there isn't a lot for her back home, besides the house and her family's graves." I nod quietly trusting that this would work.

"Well, that's that then, I will take her to see them tomorrow morning, but for now I need to discuss her earlier behaviour with her." Samuel nods, standing from his seat.

"I will go fetch her your majesty." He smiled before exiting the room.

-

I lift my gaze at the sound of a door clicking open, my gaze meets Y/N. I feel slightly guilty as I watch her pale at the sight of me.

Samuel guided her towards a seat, sitting her down before straightening, offering me a bow and exiting the room.

I could practically feel the anxiousness radiating from Y/N as she sat opposite me, fiddling with her hands in her lap, anxiously tugging at her skirt and the lace attached to it.

"Y/N, stop." I whispered, watching as her actions ceased, her gaze fixating on mine as she swallowed harshly.

"I-I- George I'm s-so sorry. I-"

"You made a scene in front of everybody Y/N." I said plainly, watching as her eyes widened, her cheeks reddening as she shifted her weight in the chair.
