✧・゚: Chapter 6 - "Love, Good Shock or Bad Shock?" *:・゚✧

17th of December 1760

I fiddled with the handle on the teacup deep in thought. The golden liquid inside now cold, and stale danced around.

I was sat in the main dining room of an 'Górt na mBláth'. The room was larger than average, with high ceilings. Large, dark, wooden beams provided support to the sloped roof, as well as, making the room feel rather reminiscent of a log cabin in the hills. The fireplace did more than enough towards making the room feel even more cosy. The crackling fire radiated heat throughout the room, the embers directed your eyes towards the marble mantle adorned with books, and a small globe.

The dining room table had 5 seats on each side of the darkened wood, with another two on each end. Atop the dining room table was a buffet of breakfast foods, fresh bread, and pastries.

The King was sat at the head of the table, with you to his right-hand side, and Samuel to his left.

"Aren't you hungry?" The King said gently patting my hand, then gesturing toward my empty plate, with over half a croissant remaining on it. I shook my head gently at the King. In all honesty I was not used to being presented with so much food in front of me, the choice stressed me out.

"Darling, you have only eaten half a croissant, that will not do you until lunchtime." I fiddled with the lacy cuffs of the King's dress shirt as he gently placed a hand on my forehead, carefully checking my temperature. This caused me to jump.

"Your majesty, I feel, uh, fine." I smiled, not wanting him to know that I was overwhelmed, that choice was not easy for me, and that I didn't exactly enjoy mealtimes.

Samuel looked deeply in thought as the King's icy blue eyes glazed over with concern, obviously sensing that something was off however, he knew better than to ask about it.

"So, how long have you been working with horses lady Y/N?" The King said, quickly filling in the awkward silence with a change of subject.

The corners of my mouth tugged up with his interest, into my passion.

"Well Your Majest-" I started, before I was cut off.

"I believe I may have to remind you that I put you on a first name basis with me last night, Y/N" The King said, a slight blush dancing across his cheeks. I attempted to correct myself

"Well your- I mean, George..." I felt my face begin to flush as his blue eyes stared intently at me, with interest whilst I recounted my feeble beginnings into caring for horses.

".... Feel free to visit the yard anytime George." I finished, as George nodded his head slightly, opening his mouth to speak.

"I could take a look, as I'm escorting you home later." The royal stated, simply.
