✧・゚: Chapter 14 - Christmas Dance (Part One) *:・゚✧
23rd of December 1760
Y/N's POV
A couple quiet days had passed in Winsor Castle; however, the quiet atmosphere has turned into a hustle and bustle of chaos, with the Christmas ball that had been arranged for tonight.
My feet padded gently through the marble halls, still in a nightdress I went to seek the company of George.
"Oliver?" I smiled politely as I addressed Smith by his first name.
The fair-haired soldier perked up slightly his brown eyes meeting mine as he smiled.
"Yes, your highness, what may you be needing?" His formality made me chuckle as I began to correct him.
"Yes, Y/N, what do you need?" I said as his cheeks flushed slightly.
"But His majesty told me to address you with-"
"I don't care what 'his majesty' said, my name is Y/n, you may use it." I smiled slightly as Oliver nodded, making me fully aware that he would not be using my first name anytime soon.
"Now that's not the way to talk about your king, Y/N?" A familiar voice rang out from my right side as Oliver turned around, bowing down to 'his majesty'.
I turned quickly towards the voice being met face-to-face with George.
"I came to wake you up, but it seems you're already up-and-at-it." George took a step closer to me closing the gap between us as he held out his arm slightly, leading me through the castle.
"Should I not get dressed first?" I said quietly, looking back at the doorway to my room. I heard George snicker slightly.
"Should have thought about that before you decided to leave the confines of your room and torture poor Oliver, all in your nightwear."
I gently smoothed down the fabric of the pale grey nightgown I was wearing, It was made up of thin layers of cotton that fell to the floor, the bodice was slightly less modest, designed to be worn in bed it had a low-cut back and a wide neckline, exposing more skin than I would have liked.
The hallways we made are way through were stunning. The large corridors were airy and spacious, with white walls and marble flooring, with a strip of royal, red carpet that ran down the centre. Portraits and paintings lined the walls to my left side, of past kings and queens who took residence in this castle. To my right side were the many rooms within this castle, doors lay open as maids bustled in and out preparing for the guests that would be staying.
Boughs of holly were placed decoratively above doorways, with wreaths adorning the doors themselves. Every so often there was a table skilfully placed under a portrait, on which sat a decorative glass bowl filled with dried oranges and evergreen clippings. Hanging grandly from the ceiling were Christmas boughs; Large spherical wire plant hangers dressed in holly and mistletoe, with candles lit on top.
