✧・゚: Chapter 35 - Almost There...*:・゚✧
17th of January 1761
Y/N's POV
For the first time in a long time, we sat in the dining room of my house. The room was cosy, the oak panelled walls brought a cosy contrast to the bright white painted walls. The matching white chiffon curtains dimmed the orange glow from the outside world. Bookshelves sat on the back wall of the room behind George whom I sat closely by.
George, nevertheless, bewildered me. Despite his absence he was also acting odd. Perhaps I just didn't want to admit that I had missed his presence, but his affection was concerning me slightly.
Samuel, on the other hand looked stressed out, his hair was tousled, and he seemed as if he was struggling to relax. Due to George's absence recently, it was likely that something stressful was occurring in Windsor, however I felt it wrong to ask.
"Y/N, how are the horses doing?" I smiled, turning my gaze to Samuel as he sipped his soup offering me a lopsided grin.
"Fine. Well, I mean one of your soldiers ended up riding Apollo for me." I turned to George as he raised a brow chuckling.
"How did that go?" He grinned at me as I quietly giggled. I shook my head lightly, sharply inhaling as George's face morphed into one of curiosity. He turned his upper body to face me, running a hand through his wavy brunette hair.
"Not well." I whispered. George smiled, shaking his head, as he took a sip from his bowl of soup. I slowly returned my gaze to my bowl, lifting a spoonful of the hearty soup to my lips.
"I must admit, Aoibhinn is an excellent cook." I relished in the warmth of the soup as it heated my insides, my hands firmly clasped around the heated ceramic bowl stinging my cold hands.
We ate in vocal silence for around five minutes, the three of us enjoying the well-needed food.
"George-" I gasped lightly as I felt his hand rest on my thigh, as I jumped kneeing the table. I quickly tried to calm the flush rising on my face. I made a desperate attempt to play it off, grasping to any pride I had left.
"I-I when a-are you both leav-leaving." I chuckled self-consciously as George slowly traced his fingers up my thigh. I quickly placed my hands in my lap, tightly gripping George's hand as he chuckled.
"Probably not for a few days yet." I cocked my head at George slightly as barely-noticable look of regret flashed across his face, he flicked his gaze between both Samuel and me.
I exhaled, embarrassment seeping into my flushed cheeks. I lightly slapped George's hand, sighing with relief as he took the hint, moving it to rest on the table in front of him. A smug grin sat on his cocky features as I narrowed my eyes slightly.
