✧・゚: Chapter 37 - Homesick *:・゚✧
18th of January 1761
George's POV
I swallowed the worry and concern, and the need to comfort, replacing it with a cold stern expression. My heart was still pounding from the adrenaline, the shock, I was practically shaking.
Y/N sat opposite me, in the King's quarters of the ship, the room where she was staying. She sat on a small wooden chair, water dripping from her small, shivering frame. Her legs were crossed her arms tightly hugging her frame, the nightdress sticking to her.
Her face was pale, jaw clenched. Her gaze practically burning holes in the wooden floor.
Quietly I walked over to her, placing a towel around her shoulders, I watched as she made no response, sulking.
"Considering the fact, you have soaked your only nightdress, you will have to wear this." I held the familiar white shirt out to her, watching as her she gazed at the shirt for a second, turning her gaze back to the floor. Her jaw clenched tighter, hanging her head in an attempt to hide the tears welling in her eyes.
I felt irritation growing inside of me, my impatience for her prudent behaviour beginning to get to me. I felt any concern I had for her dissipate at her insolence.
"Be changed when I return in five minutes or have me do it for you."
I watched as Y/N's cheeks flushed a pale red. I tossed the neatly folded shirt on the bed, feeling Y/N's gaze on me as I turned, silently raising an eyebrow at her.
I watched her desperately avoid my gaze. Turning, I made my way out of the room, harshly closing the door behind me.
Y/N's POV
I stood quickly, adjusting the towel over my shoulders, the only thing providing me warmth.
I was scared, I had never seen this side of George, and frankly I found it terrifying. What was once such a kind gentleman had turned possessive and harsh in the span of a few hours.
I trailed dripping water across the room as I stopped in front of the bed, the strewn white fabric atop its surface; discarded by George.
I wasn't sure what to do, I was stuck on a ship, in the middle of the Irish Sea, sailing further and further away from my home. One thing I did know however was that there was no way George was going to be the one to change me.
I pinched the white fabric between my thumb and forefinger, in an attempt to keep it dry as I walked towards the dressing screen.
Quickly, unsure of how much time I had left I stripped off the soaked nightdress, the water still dripping off it. Cautiously, I removed my chemise which still remained underneath, I sighed as I wrung the water out of it, a small pool forming on the floor.
