My father and I were on the docks, waiting for a new ship to arrive.
Out came the Banished Prince and the retired general. Zuko and I were good friends when we were younger. I would always visit the palace along with my father.
He looked different, well, maybe because I haven't seen him in about three years. You think he'll recognize me?
Zuko turned around and yelled at his uncle as I choked at the sight of his hair. What in the name of hell happened?
My father walked closer to them. "Getting in the way of what? Prince Zuko."
"Captain Zhao." Zuko chokes.
"It's Commander now and General Iroh, great hero of our nation."
"Retired general." Iroh corrects.
"The Fire Lord's brother and son are welcomed guests anytime. What bring you to my harbor?"
"Our ship is being repaired," Iroh replies.
"That's quite a bit of damage."
"Yes," Zuko quickly replies. "You wouldn't believe what happened. Uncle, tell Commander Zhao what happened."
"Yes," Iroh answers. "I will do that. It was incredible." He whispered to Zuko."What, did we crash or something?"
"Yes!" Zuko exclaimed. "Right into an Earth Kingdom ship."
"Really?" I murmured from afar, but no one heard or saw me.
Zhao invited the retired general and banished Prince in for some drinks. I quietly followed after them.
"Hey, dad." I said, walking into the tent.
"Nico, darling, you remember Prince Zuko don't you? Your childhood friend."
"Nico?" Zuko asked.
"Uh, yeah, hi, Zuko."
"Woah, you've um.." Zuko let out a cough. "Grown."
"Uh, yeah, that's what happens when you don't see people for a long time."
Iroh walked over to me and grabbed my hand. "Nico, you look so beautiful. It's very good to see you again. How are you doing?"
"I'm doing amazing, Iroh, thank you."
"Where was I?" My father interrupts. "Oh, yeah, and by years end, the Earth Kingdom capital will be under our rule."
I rolled my eyes. He's acting as if his own daughter isn't even half Earth Kingdom.
"If my father thinks the rest of the world will follow him willingly, then he is a fool." Zuko says.
"Two years at sea have done little to temper your tongue." My father says. "So, how's your search for the Avatar going?"
I looked over at Iroh as he was playing with my display of swords, he then dropped them, making them crash.
