Chapter 37- Into the Inferno

Nico stares into the beautiful color that the sky had made because of the comet, as Appa travels to the Fire Nation.

"Zuko, don't worry," Katara reassures. "We can take Azula."

"I'm not worried about her." Zuko admits. "I'm worried about Aang. What if he doesn't have the guts to take out my father? What if he loses?"

"So negative." Nico sighs.

Aang won't lose." Katara immediately says. "He's gonna come back. He has to."

Nico rests her head on the saddle as she awaits her death.

Hours later, Nico notices the huge building that she strongly disliked.

Azula was knelt in front of the palace as she was about to receive the title of Firelord.

Zuko landed in front of the large courtyard. "Sorry, but you're not gonna become Firelord today." Zuko says. "I am."

Azula mockingly laughs. "You're hilarious."

"And you're going down." Katara adds.

"Wait. You want to be Firelord?" Azula asks. "Fine, let's settle this.  Just you and me, brother, the showdown that was always meant to be. Agni Kai!"

Nico's breath hitched.

"You're on." Zuko replies.

Nico and Katara dart their heads at Zuko.

"What are you doing?" Nico hissed. "She's playing you. She knows she can't take the three of us, so she's trying to separate us."

"I know," Zuko replies. "But I can take her this time."

"Can you Zuko, can you?" Nico scolded.

"Zuko, but even you admitted to your uncle that you would need help facing Azula." Katara reminds.

"There's something off about her." Zuko says. "I can't explain it but she's slipping. And this way, no one else has to get hurt."

Katara slowly nods her head.

"Zuko, are you kidding me right now?" Nico shakes her boyfriends shoulders. "She's gonna eat you alive, no offense."

Zuko grabs Nico's cheeks. "I'm gonna be fine. Good luck kiss?"

A tear slips down Nico's cheek. She passionately kisses Zuko before slipping away with Katara behind Appa.

Nico trembles as she watches the siblings go head to head.

"I'm sorry it has to end this way, brother." Azula sarcastically says throwing her Firelord robe on the ground.

"No, you're not."

Zuko and Azula begin their fight with intense firebending powered by the comet.

Nico watches in somewhat awe as the red and blue collide and roam around in the air. She felt sick to her stomach though.

Zuko continues his duel with Azula as Katara and Nico watch from the sidelines. Both of their attacks are fierce and unrestrained, setting fire to the buildings surrounding them.

Nico kicks her foot to the ground, causing Azula to tumble to the ground harshly.

"No lighting today?" Zuko taunts. "What's the matter? Afraid I'll redirect it?"

"Oh, I'll show you lightning!" Azula spits, preparing a lightning attack. Instead of sending it at Zuko, however, she sees Nico on the sidelines and sends the lightning at her.

Zuko quickly sees this, crossing the lightning's path, shielding Nico from the bolt.

Nico eyes widen as she watched Zuko twitch on the ground. "Zuko!" She yells running towards him but a blast of lighting comes hurling her way.

Azula begins to attack her furiously, laughing maniacally.
