Nico is the 16 year old daughter of Admiral Zhao. Not only is she the daughter of Zhao but the granddaughter of Bumi, from her mother's side. After her mother's death, Nico was forbidden from seeing Bumi or leaving the Fire Nation.

"Nico," Zuko whispered. "We have a problem. One of the customers is onto us."
Iroh walked over.
"Don't look now," Zuko continued. "But there is a girl over there at the corner table. She knows we're Fire Nation."
Nico and Iroh glanced over at the table in union.
"Didn't I say don't look?" Zuko scolded.
Iroh smirked. "You're right, Zuko. I've seen that girl in here."
"Quite a lot." Nico added. "Seems to me she has quite a little crush on you." She murmured.
"What?" Zuko gasped.
"Thank you for the tea," a feminine voice said, startling the trio.
The girl who the group was talking about dropped some coopers into Zuko's palm. He quickly turned away.
"What's your name?" She asked.
Zuko turned back around, facing the girl. "My name's Lee. My uncle and I just moved here."
"What about her?" The girl asked, pointing at Nico.
"Oh, I just work here for charity," Nico blurted out. 'Charity, really Nico?'
"Well hi, my name is Jin."
"Amiya."
Jin then turned to Zuko. "Thank you, and well, I was wondering if you would like to go out some time?"
Nico couldn't believe her ears, the boy she likes, I mean old time buddies, okay she couldn't save herself there.
Zuko faced Nico.
"I'm out of here," Nico snapped, walking out of the tea shop. "See you guys later."

Nico had roamed around the city, walking up to the middle ring. Inside the ring were a vast assortment of shops and restaurants as well as the financial district and Town Hall.
Nico had stopped by Ba Sing Se University. She came across many photos of graduated students, she gasped as she stumbled upon a familiar face.
