After a little while, Miles woke up and agreed to hang out on the couch with Maisy while Beau went out to get some suitable medicine for a toddler.
Beau put on a cartoon for her, something that was somewhat educational but in a weird cartoonish way. It was explaining common 'little kid questions' such as why the sky is blue, why does it rain, and why flowers/plants grow.
Miles found it fascinating.
"Oh my god I never knew thats why the sky is blue." Miles stared at the Tv in wonder, Maisy wasn't as interested. She knew somethings wrong, she's really cold, and her tummy's starting to hurt.
"the sky's blue because s' blue." Maisy closed her eyes and curled into a tiny ball, pulling the blanket up to her shoulder. "You okay Mais? You don't look so good." Miles leaned over and lightly poked her cheek so she would open her eyes.
"Hi."
Maisy wasn't really in the mood for his morning optimism, which for whatever reason, he had today. "hi miles."
Miles slightly cocked his head like a puppy. "You feeling okay?" Maisy gave him a look before closing her eyes again and hugging her stomach. "not willy."
Miles smiled at her then leaned in a little closer to kiss her head. "Do you want me to get you Bubbles too?"
Maisy had Teddy snuggled up next to her, but she forgot to grab Bubbles when she went to Beaus room. "...yes pwease."
•. •. •.
Beau came back with the medicine to see something he wasn't expecting at all; Maisy cuddling into Miles' side. Maisy was asleep with Teddy and Bubbles, and Miles was still watching the cartoon still.
"...hey man. Whatcha watching?"
Miles turned his head back to look at Beau as he pulled a small box out of the plastic bag from a nearby drugstore. "Teddy and I are learning about chipmunks and why they can carry things in their cheek. Maisy and Bubbles fell asleep at the beginning."
Beau smiled as he read the instructions on the bottle, seeing how much he had to measure out for Maisy. "I take it you like this show."
Miles nodded and turned his head back to watch some more, being careful not to move too much so he wouldn't disturb Maisy.
"I got the stuff, I got some medicine for Eric too. Is he up?" Miles shrugged, as far as he knew Eric wasn't even here at the moment. "I don't know, I haven't seen him since last night."
Beau sighed and came over with the tiny cup, filled with a couple ounces of purple liquid. "Mais? Maisy, come on. Wake up for a minute."
Maisy grumbled and tried to stay under the blanket and against Miles' side where it was warm. "beauy, noooo."
Beau pulled her out of the blanket and away from Miles, so she gave up and just leaned against Beau instead. "Here Mais, you've gotta drink this." Maisy was still half asleep, but clung to him like a tiny baby koala.
"Maisy, come on. I just need you awake for two seconds to drink this. It tastes like grape."
Maisy woke up a little more at the sound of it tasting like grape. She really likes grape. Whether it be the real thing or candy, she loves both.
"gwape?" Beau smiled at her and lowered the small cup towards her. "Yep, only the best kind there is." Beau lowered it closer to Maisys mouth but she leaned her head back and pursed her lips once she saw it. "mm-m. No fank you."
