Eric managed to recover pretty quickly from the stomach bug, he was back on his feet within a couple of days.
Maisy however, had only gotten worse, and it was finally to the point that Beau insisted on taking her to a doctor.
Between the refusal of the medicine because it made her tummy hurt worse, the rising fevers, the constant moody state she was in from feeling icky–
Actually, the real event that pushed Beau to make an appointment was when Maisy woke up with a stomach ache around four in the morning, then threw up all over his bed.
"No fank you, I'd rather not do that."
Maisy backed away from Beau as he attempted to explain it to her. Because she took a step back, he took a step forward. "Maisy, it's nothing to worry about, it's only to make sure–"
His rational explanation plan was a bust, causing Maisy to flee to Cassidy's room. Surely her older sister would help her, sisterly solidarity!
"Cassie! Beauys trying to be mean to me!" She ran into Cassidy's room, hugging her legs and hiding behind them as Beau trailed into the room. Cassidy almost fell as the toddler made impact, she was fixing her hair in her mirror and wasn't expected to be used as a human shield.
"Maisy, we already talked about this! The doctor isn't scary or mean, she's really nice. I think you'll like her if you give her a chance–" Beau started to ramble again, not understanding why Maisy was being so difficult about a simple doctors visit.
It's not like they'll have to give her a shot or anything.
"M' not going!" Maisy bravely held her chin up high, yet grasped onto Cassidy's legs a little tighter.
Cassidy suddenly realized what was going on and crouched down to Maisys level, cooing at her and ignoring her brother. "Why don't you wanna go, princess? I'll go with you too if you want, you won't be alone."
Maisy started to get upset and shook her head as she wiped a tear off her small cheek. "I don't want to go at all."
Cassidy kissed away the hot tear as Beau tried to speak again. "Maisy, it's just a check-up to make sure you're okay and then we get to go home. Doesn't that sound good?"
Maisy shook her head and leaned away from Cassidy's attempt to soothe her, staring at the bundle Beau was carrying in his arms. He had a blanket, which carried Teddy. He was an inch away from using him as leverage.
Beau realized the look in her eyes and quickly got in the way of the doorframe as Maisy tried to make a run for it, failing just as she tried.
"Beauy, put me DOWN!" Maisy tried to maneuver her way out of his arms, almost flipping upside down in the process.
"Maisy, would you please just settle down? Teddy will keep you company and there won't be any shots or anything." Beau kept trying to convince her, and briefly thought he had succeeded. Maisy stopped the wriggling and struggling.
"I don't want a shot!" Maisy started to struggle more after hurting their ears with another screech of defiance, causing Beau and Cassidy to lock eyes.
"See what you did? Way to go, Beau." Cassidy was about to come over but was interrupted by him muttering. "I've got it handled."
"Maisy–" Beau started to persuade, attempt to anyway, Maisy again, but she was no longer listening as he adjusted her position upwards.
He balanced her back on his hip and kept talking, but soon realized she was no longer wiggling or yelling in return. For a second he thought she was finally complying–But that doesn't seem right. "Maisy?"
