"A piece'a pizza!"

Maisy jumped into Beaus arms, mushing her words a little so it sounded like she said 'pizza' twice.

Beau had just asked her what she wants for dinner, but before he could answer, Amber and Miles came through the door.

"Amber!" Maisy jumped off of Beau and ran to Amber, who automatically leaned down and hugged her back.

"Hi sweetie! How's it going?" Amber kissed her head before standing back up, Miles had already gone over to the fridge for a drink.

"Did you know that Kennedy Grace is in town?" Beau frowned, not knowing what how he was supposed to react. "So?"

Kennedy Grace was Cassidys high school best friend, they haven't really spoken in a few years. They didn't have some huge fight or anything, their lives were just...too different.

"Why do you know?"

Maisy grabbed Amber's hand and pulled her towards the stairs, telling her about what she did to her room.

But Amber started asking about who Kennedy was, and Maisy huffed when no one would listen.

"fine. I do it myself."

So, Maisy went upstairs to go play in her room, talking to Teddy as she did. Who knows why they need to talk about so many grownup things all the time, it's exhausting to try and make sense of it.

Kennedy Grace.

Kennedy and Cassidy were very close, Kennedy was the sister that Cassidy never had in high school.

Despite how close they were, it was hard for things to stay that way when their lives started to grow in opposite directions.

Cassidy went to college while working at the company after high school, doing well but hating it. She wanted to pursue her dreams, not be stuck there forever.

Kennedy had just met the love of her life in college, and as soon as they graduated, they moved to New Jersey and got married.

While Cassidy first started making her way up the ladder at her restaurant, Kennedy was trying to conceive a baby with her husband. Kennedy had a white picket fence kind of life, and Cassidy was still far from that.

It was just the major difference in their lives, and the minor distance between each other, that the connection was slowly lost.

"Hey." They greeted Cassidy as she came in the door, but she barely even looked at them as she dropped her keys into the bowl and mumbled a small 'hi'.

Beau, Miles and Amber were sitting around the kitchen, Beau was making a pizza, Miles and Amber were just hanging out and talking.

They stopped talking and paused to watch Cassidy go straight up the stairs into her room. "Long day?"

All that came from her in response was a tired sounding 'mhm.'

When she was alone, she sighed and threw her purse to the side before collapsing onto her bed and just staring at the ceiling. Long day indeed.

Maisy had her door wide open though, she was in the middle of a tea party with Teddy, Bubbles, and Moo-moo. Ah yes, the owners of the Airbnb gifted the stuffed animal to her after seeing how much she loved it.
