TWO YEARS LATER

Jay ran down the street trying to make it back to his house. Mal, Evie, and Carlos were there trying to cook which never goes well. Especially since any of them cooked, it was always Jay who made their food. It didn't help that their significant others weren't there.

His practice bag slammed against his back, his hand was sweaty from holding his game stick but he kept running. He saw their house at the end of the road. It was a small white house with some hints of their heritage. The building made Jay think of his father and his culture, a thing he was proud to be from. The gold rooftops and arches built into the house. But the walls held French designs for Carlos' heritage. It was small but perfect for the two. Their backyard was large enough for their many dogs now.

Jay opened the gate, the dogs nipping at his ankles. He would've bent down to give them attention but he had to save his kitchen. He didn't spend over a thousand dollars for his dream kitchen. Jay slammed open the front door, their dogs following him inside, he tossed his stuff into the living room.

"Oh, Jay's home!" Evie happily called from the kitchen.

"If you guys messed up my kitchen," Jay hollered. "You're cleaning it up! Not to mention paying for anything that was broken."

"You have so little faith in us," Mal told him.

"I still remember the last night at school vividly," Jay said as he reached the kitchen.

Jay looked around the kitchen. His two friends and boyfriend were covered in flour and some type of jelly. He found himself sighing in relief. At least it wasn't worse than he imagined in his head. He looked around the kitchen for anything broken. A small whine left his mouth when he saw one of his mixing bowls were broken on the counter.

"We can explain that," Carlos pointed at the bowl.

"Just give us a second to put it into words," Mal said.

"But it was because our song was playing," Evie interjected.

"Like I said," Jay sighed. "You broke, you buy it."

"Now you have to access to the damage, can I get my 'welcome home kiss' or no?" Carlos asked.

Jay rolled his eyes, "Lucky for you, I have to shower anyway."

They shared a brief kiss before Jay pulled away for a shower. He told them to clean up the mess. He took a long shower because he felt sticky with sweat, and his face was slightly covered with flour. When he finished showering, he got dressed and dried his hair. He refused to mess up his hair for anything.

Jay walked back into the kitchen, which was now clean, and his friends were clean thanks to Mal's magic. On the counter, there was a plate full of sweets shaped like small dogs. The moment the yummy smell filled his nose, his stomach growled. He greedily grabbed one of the sweets and took a large bite. He felt arms wrap around his waist.

He turned around to find Carlos grinning up at him. Jay wrapped his free arm around Carlos' shoulders. Carlos kissed his chin before pressing his face against his chest. Jay rubbed his back as he ate the sweets in front of him.

"Where's Evie and Mal?" Jay asked Carlos.

"Well," Carlos pulled back so he could face Jay. "Doug called Evie claiming he needed an outfit for his music show so she rushed off telling everyone it was a major issue. Meanwhile Ben somehow found himself stuck in a tree so Mal went off to help him and make fun of him."

"Ah," Jay snorted. "So why did you three have a baking day today?"

"It's apart of the surprise for you."

"Not another dog from the street, Car," Jay told him. "I don't want to build a brand new doghouse this weekend."

"It's not! Promise,"

Jay looked down at him, almost challenging his answer. Carlos nodded, he let go of Jay and ran off somewhere down the hallway. Jay sighed wondering what Carlos was going to bring out. So Jay grabbed the tray of sweets and sat at the table. He went through three more before Carlos announced he was coming back.

Carlos' loud footsteps echoed throughout the small house. He shouted for Jay to close his eyes, which Jay complied, and settled in the kitchen. A few shuffling noises filled Jay's ears. Then he was told to open his eyes so Jay did.

He blinked a few times. There stood Carlos holding Dude in his arms. His soft blonde curls were ruffled from his movements and he changed from his t-shirt. The new t-shirt was matching Dude's. It had words sew across Carlos's chest area and Dude's back. Jay's eyes read the words. He blinked a few times and reread those words. He focused on the words on Carlos' chest first.

YOU'RE A GRANDFATHER!

Then he looked over at Dude's vest.

I'M A DAD!

Jay looked over at Carlos, "We're grandparents? To dogs?"

"Yes!" Carlos nodded. "Dude's a father! And we already got custody of the new puppies. Don't worry, I've set up all the appointments and everything else! Aren't you excited?"

"You said it wasn't more dogs."

"No," Carlos shook his head. "I said it wasn't a dog from the street, Jay."

Jay felt outplayed but then again, Carlos was right. Jay sighed but stood up. He walked over to them with a small smile. He rubbed Dude's head, who was happy to have the attention. Then Jay kissed Carlos pulled back smiling.

"Grandparents at the age of twenty," Jay laughed. "I bet that's never happened before."

"We're going to be great," Carlos kissed Jay again. "Plus Dude is really happy. He's going to be a great dad."

"Yeah, he will, huh?"

"Are you happy, Jay?"

Jay smiled, "With you? Always. Besides what are a few more dogs gonna do for us? It just gives me a break from building another dog house this month."

"I love you, Jay." Carlos smiled.

"I love you too, Carlos."

And they lived happily ever after.
