Puppy Love (Jaylos)

Chapter 9

Carlos sat on his bed, and stared at Jay. Jay ignored him all night, which made him think that he was doing something wrong. He wanted to tell Jay everything, from Jane practicing magic to Dude's potty mouth. Yet everytime Carlos talked to Jay, he only gave him short answers. Mal told him to wait but Evie threaten to slap some sense into Jay.

He sighed as he stood up and walked out the door, hoping Jay would at least ask him where he was going. But that didn't happened, so Carlos left the room brokenhearted. He walked out of the boys dorms and headed towards Evie's room.

He kicked open the door and saw Mal fell off her bed, while Evie pulled away from her new dress. Mal glared at him but saw his face, she opened her arms, which Carlos ran into. She rubbed his back as Evie walked over with a blanket.

"If it's Jay, I will steal Mal's spellbook and then him into a toad." Evie said as Carlos latched onto her.

"I probably would've said that in front of her." Carlos said as Mal nodded.

"I'll go talk to Jay." Mal said as Evie smiled.

Evie and Carlos pulled away from each other, and Carlos put his head on her shoulder. Evie sighed as she stretched out her legs, making Carlos stare at her shoes.

"This makes me think of Isle." Carlos said as Evie sighed.

"Yeah, but it wasn't Jay who hurt you." Evie said.

"He never did. It just feels weird without talking to him. I mean I love talking to him, he's the most amazing person ever." He said as Evie smiled.

"Sounds like you really like him."

"Of course I do! He's Jay, who wouldn't like him? Sure he has his flaws, but he's really sweet and cool."

"Handsome?"

"Yeah."

"Hmm, Carlos do you like Jay?"

"What kind of question is that?"

"I mean more than a friend."

"Like how Mal and Ben are? Or Doug and you?" Carlos asked as his face turned a bright red.

Carlos pulled away and covered his face. Evie giggled as she crossed her arms over her chest. Carlos turned to look at her, he shook his head as he stood up. His chest tighten as he pointed towards Evie, who just smiled.

"Did you steal her spellbook already? Because I think you hex me." Carlos said as she sat on her bed.

"Nope, not yet. Besides it's fine if you like him more than a friend. People fall in love." She said.

"In love with Jay?" He asked himself. "But isn't being in love with your best friend either goes south or dream come true?"

"Could be, but if you really love each other, then it could be the best relationship ever."

"Relationship? Evie, this is hurting my head."

"Awe, we don't want that now do we? Don't think to hard, just keep a open mind. 'Kay?" She asked as Carlos nodded.

Evie turned towards her sowing table but Carlos chewed on his bottom lip. He grabbed the blanket and pressed it against his face. He sat on her bed and stared at her, as she hummed he felt lonely. Because be honest, right now he would be hugging Dude or bugging Jay.

"Evie?" Carlos asked.

"Yes hun." She replied.

"Can you teach me how to make a shirt?"

"Of course! Just park yourself right next to me, darling."

Mal opened the door and saw Jay was playing a video game. She rolled her eyes, then grabbed the textbook, she narrowed her eyes then threw the book at his head. Jay groaned as he turned back and saw Mal crossing her arms over her chest, he nodded. He paused the game and sat down, eating some candy. Jay felt uneasy, because of two reasons, one, he had nothing else to eat and two, Mal was glaring at him.

"Did I do something wrong?" Jay asked.

"I dunno, what do you think?" She replied.

"Well your eyes are turning green. So I'm pretty scared right now."

"Why are you ignoring Carlos? Is it because the dog shifting thing, you should be happy that he's finally not scared anymore!"

"I am happy about that, trust me."

"Then why are you ignoring him?"

"Am I? I didn't know that."

"Jay," Mal said as she grabbed his shoulder. "Whatever the reason you have against shapshifters, forget for one moment. Carlos hates being ignored, all of us know that."

"Mal, I don't mean to ignore him. Everything has been crazy, with my wrist and all but don't worry. Soon as tomorrow hits, I'll talk to him, yeah?" Jay said as Mal sighed and nodded.

Carlos walked back in his dorm room, feeling happy but that feeling dropped seeing a empty room. He wrapped his arms around himself and walked towards Jay's bed. Falling down face first, tears streamed down his cheeks. Dude barked as he jumped on the bed and rubbed his head against Carlos' arm. Carlos grabbed Dude and hugged him, and cried on his fur.

"I know," Carlos mumbled. "I wish Jay was here too."

As soon Jay came back to the room, he saw it was midnight. He was hanging with Lonnie and Ben, but he hated seeing Dude on his bed. He stared at Carlos, and felt confusion stir up in his chest. Jay sighed as he walked over and picked him up, then placed him on his bed.

"Sorry Carlos, I just need some space." Jay whispered as he brushed his hair.
