I went to my room and removed the makeup on my face, I changed my kimono and lay down on my futon. I sigh and frowned. 'Looks like the Hyakken Clan will stay at the residence for a while.' I thought to myself. I couldn't sleep well for the rest of the night, I was too stressed and angry about sudden news coming from ng both of the clan heads.

The next morning, I decided to went into the main room to discuss with my father to talk about this 'arrange marriage.' When I arrived rather than a simple conversation it started into an argument.

"Where are your manners last night?" Father cried out. "Hyakken Banri is one of the powerful clan leaders out there and marrying his eldest son could bring pride and honor to this family!" He added.

"Pride and Honor? Do you think marrying someone I do not like could make me happy? You only think about the benefit of your status as the family head" My face contorted with anger and outrage.

"I am doing this for the clan Y/n, being recognize by the emperor is a big deal to us, as the emperor will recognize your talent as a sorcerer. Our status will arise from any nobles"

"Is that all you care about? I had been spending my whole entire life being taught how to be this and that, what to do and what not to do. There is a lot of things I have missed in life, all i ever do was how to please you, all my efforts to become a perfect daughter is not enough to you... Hearing this nonsense, marrying to a man who is just a stranger is something I will not agree of. If mother was here, she would take on my side, not yours!" He went quiet as I mentioned mother to our argument, he sighed and drank the bottle of sake. Of a sudden, a man barged into the room and all the guards outside were catching their breaths as if they never found water before.

"Sir..." The first let out a deep breath. "Sir... this man wishes to speak with you." The other guard finished.

As the man rushed toward father and kneel in respect. It was the man yesterday! His expression was worse than yesterday, the man kneel and begged: "Sir, I did not mean to be rude but some of my people on the border needs your help." My father looked at him with nothingness and annoyance.

"I cannot help you with your situation." My father said "Please Lord Sakurai! this spirit kills people on the border and eats their flesh!" He sobbed.

I could not help but feel bad, father did not even give an ounce of sympathy, he look at the man who begged for help like someone who will waste his time. Back in the old old, my father was knew his time as one of the talented jujutsu sorcerers, but why did my father refuse to help him? "Father let me help h-" As I was about to say those words, my father cut me off with a 'No.'

"Why, because I'm a woman?" I angrily asked and he continue to ignore me. My father order the guards to kick the man out of the main room and threw him outside.

"Naka!" My father voiced, Naka went in and wait for another response to come out of his mouth. "Yes, Lord Sakurai?"

"Take Y/n inside her room." He ordered and continue to drink his sake. I looked at him with disappointment, and I angrily walked out.

"Lady Y/n, wait!" Naka said while trying to catch me up "What? Are you gonna take on his side?"

"Please calm down, if your anger takes place-"

"I do not care, did you see what father looks at him? He looks at him as if he is nothing!" I snapped

"Please lady y/n, calm down." She pleaded, I breathe in and out. "Look Naka I can't just sit here acting useless while that man is suffering," I said and looked at her with seriousness.

"Well, what do you want to do then? you are not even allowed to go outside without an accompany." She stated. I went quiet and went into my room, as I went in, I formed a fist in my hand and was to punch the wall down but instead, just took a deep breath and read some books to calm my nerves down. I kept frowning at the rest of the hours and noticed how the room was filled with nothingness, it was quiet and yet empty.

Naka is probably outside waiting for my order. I sighed and stood up quietly, I prepared some yen and put it in a pouch, and went out to the balcony. I jumped over and quietly ran outside. If he cannot help the poor man, then I am not hesitant to say I will!

I went to the town and find the man. He's probably somewhere moping, I spend some hours talking to the townspeople if they ever saw the man who looks like a bloody mess. But one person pointed out that he ran into the alley, I slowly walk into the smelly place. The alley stink and I can smell some rotten foods and some rats on the boxes hiding until I hear a sobbing sound and mutter of hate.

"Excuse me, Aren't you the man who asks for help from my father?" I asked, he looked at me and I realized his eyes were lost of hope, I look at him with sympathy and offer him my handkerchief to wipe his tears away.

"I can help you." I whispered near him and give him a sincere smile "Just tell me where that cursed spirit is and I will fix that problem for you", He shakily nod, I helped him stand up and he ended up crying hard.

"Are you hungry, I'm also hungry as well, my treat!" I smiled, we went to an Udon stall and decided to eat.

"Let's dig in!" I said happily and eat some Udon, I peeked at the man he eat the Udon so quick and ask the man for another Udon. He must be so hungry while walking here to there, I frowned at the thought of badly he suffered so much going into this town just to get a help.

"Tell me, what's this cursed spirit look like?" I asked "This spirit is monstrous! It kidnaps my neighbors and dragged them to the shrine and continues its feast!" He said with a shaky tone.

"Can you describe to me what it looks like?" I asked "It has the body of a man and its face is a goat, this spirit killed my wife and my beloved daughter-" He started crying and I pat him.

After minutes of giving him comfort, I paid the vendor and we continue to venture. I smiled at how satisfying it is to see their expressions that I suddenly disappear.

"A-a-are you gonna be okay though?" The man stuttered and I grinned with confidence "Don't worry, I'm crazy strong."

The man explained before the tragedy, that the sky was different that they cannot see the light and everything loomed in darkness and that's how the cursed spirit starts hunting down people one by one.

We stopped for a while to get some rest, we were walking for about almost how the god's and goddesses know. It was quite dark, luckily he found an oil lamp to light the dark forest.

"We're almost there, if we went in that monster will know there's a person who went into its territory" He explained while looking down.

"Well, after we finished taking a short rest let's step inside. If we wait for tomorrow who knows how many it will kill, so it's better if we do it right now" I explained.

I look at the man he looks nervous and scared more than ever "We will finish this quickly, and you find the other survivors. I'll distract the cursed spirit first and you grab the opportunity to take the survivors out to safety and then on, now I can focus to exorcise it." I added.

He was hesitant but determined to save the others, We stood out and went inside its territory.

After y/n left out, Naka patiently stood and wait for an answer "Lady Y/n, it's already afternoon it's time for your lunch." Naka said as she open the shoji her eyes widened, the room was a complete mess and also the door to the balcony was open. Naka speculated that she went out, Naka hurriedly reported at the main hall on how t/n left out the residence,

Y/n's father was horrified and decided to call out the guards to assist him to find his daughter before its too late.

The only possible thing for why Y/n left her room is that she decided to help out that man.

"We must find her before nighttime! Naka come with me and find Y/n!" His hands gripped hard, he can't afford to lose his daughter. He already lost his wife and he doesn't want to lose his daughter either.

They went out and start finding his daughter.
