The night you dreaded was on its way. The sun was slowly setting and when the moon rose high enough in the sky, you wouldn't be able to resist her call.

Now that you had your necklace and you'd calmed down for a short while, most of the crew had either forgotten or chose to ignore the impending night. They were out on the island once again, drowning themselves in alcohol or finding comfort in the arms of strange women. Even Kid was still gone, out doing whatever he liked to do when he wasn't shouting orders at his men.

You on the other hand, chose to stay on the ship, fidgeting with your necklace as you watched the sun dip below the horizon nervously. It was a comfort but it couldn't completely dissolve your nerves. Nothing could.

But lucky for you, you weren't alone at least.

"How much longer do you have?" Killer stood at the railing beside you, also watching the sun. Or so you assumed.

"A couple hours, maybe three." You whispered.

"Wire and I will take care of you tonight." He reached over to pat your arm. "Any tips?"

You choked back a nervous laugh. "Don't assume it'll be like my fight to join you guys. I'll be much stronger, faster.....angrier."

"Are you angry when you shift?"

"No....I'm scared. But the beast in me, it's angry. Angry and hungry."

"Is it really so terrifying?"

"You'll understand when you see it." You grimaced. "The change is quick but I doubt that makes it any less gruesome. After that, just be ready for me."

This was the best time to use it. You reached down your thigh to your pouch and undid the strap. When the whole thing came off, you reached inside for the silver dagger and handed it to Killer, careful not to touch the blade.

"I heal fast on a normal day but in my wolf form, regular attacks heal almost immediately. Use this if you need to, I won't hold any grudges about possible scarring." You were joking with the last bit but it seemed like the weight of the situation was beginning to set in for Killer.

He hesitated a short moment and then took the blade, playing with it to get a feel for it's balance. "I'll refrain from using it unless necessary. You're still an important part of the crew, I don't want to hurt you too much."

"Killer, if you don't hurt me, I'll hurt you. Do what you need to, I'll heal up just fine."

He sighed. "Is it really always this worrisome?"

"Pretty much. It's why I usually try to take myself somewhere out of the way."

"Well, Wire and I will be careful. I doubt Heat will be back anytime soon, he likes his alone time but Kid may be back before it begins."

"That'd be nice, I could use the extra insurance."

"Speaking of Kid...." Killer glanced around and when he was sure there was no one around, he continued. "You seem rather fond of him."

"What? No, I, um- he's just the captain is all. I'm just, you know, taking orders?"

He stared back at you, unreadable with the mask obscuring his face, but you could still tell he wasn't buying it. He'd caught you so off guard that you couldn't lie to save your life.

"Right, he's the captain. Tell me (Y/n), you've seen him in one of his moods but have yet to actually deal with it and the truth is, most people can't. This.....infatuation is dangerous and you need to rethink it."

"Can we not do this now?" You shifted from one foot to the other, uncomfortable with the topic and the feeling of the moon rising. "I don't know if this is an infatuation or something else and if you guys still want me around after tonight, we can delve into the complexities of why he's.....yeah."
