You woke up, groggy and in an uncomfortable amount of pain, but you weren't sure where exactly you were. Since the space was unfamiliar, you first assumed Kid had decided you were too much trouble and dumped you off somewhere. Then you decided that couldn't be right. If he was going to do that, he would have just chucked you onto the docks and sailed away. Plus it felt like you were on a ship anyway. There was the steady, calming sensation of the bed and your surroundings rolling gently on waves.

So he'd decided to keep you around.

You were laying on your belly and were quickly reminded why you were in that position when you tried to get up and felt a painful twinge in your back that sent you flopping back onto the mattress with a groan.

You sighed and decided to check out what parts of your surroundings you could see. The bed was just big enough for one person and was covered in clean, white sheets which were draped across your body. Around your bed was a privacy curtain that hung from a rail on the ceiling. It looked to enclose the entire space and that was all it took for you to realize you had to be in the infirmary.

So you were still on the ship. It was probably no longer docked, and you'd been stuck in the infirmary to boot, all good signs.

"You awake girl?" The familiar call of the ship doctor made you smile.

"Barely."

"I'll take it." He chuckled and pushed back the curtain.

The doctor was a normally jovial man with a large belly and perpetually rosy cheeks. He moved to the side of the bed and you turned your head to watch him.

"How're you feeling?" He grabbed a chair and sunk into it, rolling close enough to place a hand to your forehead before nodding to himself like that told him all he needed to know about your condition.

"Tired, sore. What about Killer and Wire? They're probably in worse shape than me."

"They're tough. Most of their wounds were rather shallow, it was fatigue that did them in more than anything else. But they got some rest and are up and moving just fine."

"How long have I been out?"

"Half the day. I'm surprised you are awake now actually."

"And everyone's okay with how last night went?"

"Well," He sighed heavily, his gaze trailing up to the ceiling. "I believe Killer and Wire are angry with themselves for not handling it better, the rest of the crew has a healthy understanding of your strength, and the captain....he seems rather occupied, something's eating away at his mind and I have a feeling it's about your shift."

"I probably need to talk to him." You murmured.

You were still exhausted. A shift was always draining but this time was worse than normal. It was a toss up whether it was because of the seastone or the silver wound on your back but you were sure it had to be one or both of those that had you beginning to doze off again.

"Later." He pulled your bedding down gently. "For now you need your back checked, probably some clean dressings, and sleep."

You closed your eyes and nodded.

With that, he carefully pulled up the shirt you wore. It was safe to assume someone had dressed you after the shift, clothes didn't survive something like that after all. And by some blessing, probably the doctor, they were smart enough to not bother with a bra. The cut spanned from your right shoulder blade down to about the small of your back. Killer had actually taken your attempt to kill Wire seriously.

The bandages covering it were removed, it was cleaned, and new bandages covered it once again.

"I had to stich you up, Killer went rather deep with it."
