ALTERNATE TITLE: 'Three Cousins Share Half a Braincell Part 2'

This whole part reads almost exactly like a Smallville episode I'm so sorry. Like so much so that I sat dead still for fifteen whole minutes sifting through 195 episodes worth of memories trying to decide if this has been done before. It has. It has.

_____________

The front door slammed closed with enough force to shake the entire conjoining wall, rattling the pictures framed along the hall, and with enough volume to startle Jon off the side of the couch.

He had been sleeping not even two seconds before hand, now ripped devastatingly harshly into the land of the living. Jon grumbled something as he pulled himself back onto the couch, and into the warmth of his blanket pile.

The door was thrown open again, but less violently. Ma came hurrying down the hall to meet the two new arrivals, bringing with her the smell of simmering oatmeal and brown sugar.

"Ma!"

Jon immediately recognized that voice as Conner's, followed by a particularly excited; "We come bearing gifts!" from none other than Kara.

Next thing he knew, he was being crushed by both of them as they jumped over the back of the couch to smother him in hugs and kisses. Which, if he let himself think about it, was overly out of character for both of them.

"How're you feeling?" Kara asked, taking his face in her hands. Her eyes shone brilliant blue as they inspected her little cousin. Finding nothing immediately wrong, her hands dropped onto her lap. "Did you have breakfast yet?"

'Gosh, this had better not have to do with yesterday'

"I'm feeling great," Jon said, unknowing to the truth. He had felt better in his life, but he'd also definitely felt worse. "And no, I just woke up. Like, two second ago, actually."

"Sick, where's Clark?"

"Prolly still sleeping, why?"

"We're going on an adventure," Kon said, practically shining with excitement, which was also a little out of character as well. He pulled a ball cap out of the pocket of his jacket, and slapped it on Jon's head. "There, now we match,"

"Wha —?"

"These!" Kara tipped the hat on her own head, and then pointed to the one on Kon's. They were bold red, with a crisp blue visor; the words 'Cewjin Squad' embroidered onto the fronts were probably supposed to have been 'Cousin Squad' but got screwed up by the cheep overnight place they went to. Jon wondered how someone could get Cewjin from Cousin.

"Get your coat, kid," Kon said, pulling Jon's arms as he stood, letting the blankets topple to the ground. "Adventure doesn't wait for anything,"

"But this is Smallville," Jon protested as he was dragged by both arms from the living room. "You'd be lucky if someone waved to you on the sidewalk,"

Kara slipped her hands under his armpits to lift him up from behind. He struggled slightly, whining at the minor inconvenience. Kon took the opportunity to shove his boots on before Kara set him down.

"You won't regret this, I promise," Kara said, stepping into her own boots. "Hey Ma!"

"What?" Ma called back from the kitchen.

"Tell Kal that Conner and I took Jon out to town?"

"Alright," Ma came around the corner, hands full of yummy smelling paper bags. She distributed them among the kids as well as a kiss. "Just make sure you're all warm and safe, okay? Be back for dinner, and please —" she gave Kon a pointed stare. "Stay in town. We've enough to worry about without losing the baby."
