Y/N's P.O.V.
"You can't catch me!" Thor laughed as he ran around the gardens with his friends chasing him.
"And that's the future king of Asgard..." I mumbled, shaking my head as I sat down against the tree, opening my book.
"We're doomed.""I was just thinking the same thing." A smooth voice spoke next to me, making me jump. A boy with black hair and a book in his hands moved to sit next to me.
"What's wrong? Fenrir got your tongue?""Prince Loki..." I bowed my head respectfully, moving away from his slightly.
"I didn't mean to speak ill of your brother-""It kind of sounded like you did." He smirked and my eyes widened slightly.
"Don't look so worried. You're not in any trouble." He smiled slightly, gesturing for me to sit back in my previous seat and I hesitated, before complying.
"I love my brother, but he is an oaf. He truly believes that being a good warrior will make him a great king.""It won't?" I asked, nervously. He shook his head.
"I've seen you sitting out here, reading and practicing your magic every day for many months now." He spoke with confidence.
"Who are you?""My name is Y/N, my prince." I whispered.
"And I don't practice magic-""If you're going to lie, at least make it convincing." He interrupted.
"Tell me honestly, why would you lie about practicing magic?""My mother forbids it." I looked down at the grass sadly.
"She believes that magic is a curse.""Your mother is wrong." The prince spoke bluntly and I looked at him.
"My mother tells me magic is a gift. A gift that not many people have a natural talent for." He held his hand out and a moment later, a beautiful yellow rose appeared in his hand.
I looked at it in awe, before Loki handed it to me, taking me by surprise."I... thank you, my prince." I smiled at him, feeling heat crawling up onto my cheeks.
"I recently learned that a yellow rose represents friendship." He continued.
"And I hope by accepting the gift, you also accept my friendship. You have a natural talent for magic, just as I do. My mother can help you learn and together, we could become powerful sorcerers.""My prince, it is a generous offer, but my mother would never allow me to do such a thing." I frowned, holding out the rose to him.
"I'm afraid I cannot accept your gift.""Lady Y/N, your mother never has to know." He smirked, before standing up and offering me his hand. The idea of lying to my mother... I knew it couldn't end well. But the prince of Asgard was asking me to be his friend. How could I say no to that? Was I even allowed to say no?
"What do you say?""I accept, your kind offer, my prince." I took his hand and he helped me to my feet. His hands were unusually cold, but in a way that was somehow comforting.
"We're friends now. You can just call me Loki." He grinned at me.
"Come on, I want to introduce you to my mother.""Queen Frigga?" I asked and Loki nodded.
"May I ask you something, Loki?""Of course." He spoke as I followed him towards the large golden palace.
"If you have been watching me practice my magic for months, why didn't you approach me sooner?" I asked and the prince hesitated.
"I didn't... I didn't know how to approach you." He admitted.
"I've never had a friend before and I didn't want you to say no.""I'm glad you figured it out." I smiled at him.
"I'm glad you said yes."

It had been many years since that day when Loki first spoke to me and since then, our friendship blossomed into something powerful and unique.
He was my best friend and I loved him unconditionally.
However, sometimes he would be a dick."Loki, wait up!" I chased after the trickster down the halls of the palace.
"Loki- ow!" I fell against the hard floor, pressing my hands against my torso. I groaned in pain, squeezing my eyes shut, before a cold hand touched my cheek softly."My lady?" Loki asked softly and I turned my head away.
"Y/N, what's wrong?" He asked, sounding desperate. My eyes opened suddenly and I smirked, knocking him back and pinning him to the ground, seeing a shocked expression on his face."Nothing is wrong- not with me." His shocked expression turned into a small smirk.
"However I have this friend, who keeps running off without an explanation and it's getting quite frustrating. He better tell me where he is going, or it's not going to end well for him.""Pretending to be hurt, that was rather convincing. I'm impressed." He spoke and I rolled my eyes.
"I really am. I thought I was the trickster, not you.""Where are you going, Loki?" I asked, getting off of him. I offered him my hand, helping him up off of the ground.
"If you must know, my mother wants to see me." He wiped invisible dirt off of his clothes.
"She did say it was rather important.""Can I come?" I asked.
"I have absolutely nothing to do.""Why don't you wait in my room until I return?" Loki suggested and I poured.
"I won't be long and then we can go and prank Thor.""Fine." I agreed.
"But no stabbing. We almost got in trouble last time.""Yes, alright." Loki rolled his eyes.
"I'll see you later, my lady." He bowed dramatically."My prince." I smirked sarcastically as I curtsied and we went our separate ways.
