I just finished the Punisher and let me say my love for Ben Barnes has no limit-
Anywhore this is set just after Billy escapes the hospital in season 2Y/N's P.O.V.
I couldn't believe it when I saw the news.
Billy Russo, armed and highly dangerous.
Even before he was arrested by the police, he was a dangerous man. A marine, then the CEO of a military-based security firm. But even before that, he was my friend.
Someone I met in the orphanage, years before he even considered joining the Marines.
He was a quiet kid, but he had always been angry. I was one of the few people that understood that.
The first time he spoke to me, it was after he stopped some older kids from picking on me and after that we stuck together. He was my best friend, it was just the two of us against the world. Even when I was adopted, I'd sneak out to meet him, I couldn't bear the thought of leaving him alone. Not in the hell we knew as the orphanage.
A loud knock on my door made me jump and I turned the TV off, walking over to the entrance of my home. Without thinking, I opened the door, expecting it to be a parcel or my neighbour wanting something, but I wasn't expecting Billy to be stood there."Y/N?" Even with the scars littering his face and his hood pulled up, I recognised him. How could I not? He had the same scared look in his eyes he used to have when we were kids.
My breath got caught in my throat and I couldn't move.
He's a murderer. He's my friend.
Whilst my brain was stuck in conflict, I hadn't even noticed him move until his arms were wrapped around me, embracing me in a tight hug."Billy..." I stepped back, looking at the scars and he quickly looked away.
"I didn't know where else to go. I wasn't sure if you still lived here, my head..." He brought his hands up to his head, gripping onto the hood, his bruised knuckles exposed and his eyes squeezed shut.
I had a decision to make. Did I let him in? Hide him? Or shut him out and call the police?
I had a feeling I was going to regret it, but I carefully reached out and took his arm, pulling him inside and closing the door.
He had been to my house a few times, it was the house my adoptive parents owned before they passed."What are you doing here, Billy? The police are looking for you-"
"I don't remember what happened. The things people said I did- I-I- I don't remember, Y/N. I'm scared." Hesitantly, I lead him over to the sofa, sitting him down.
"I woke up in hospital and my head and my face hurt. I don't remember what happened. No one will tell me.""Billy, you need to breathe." I spoke as softly as I could, my shaking hands landing on his.
His eyes met mine and he nodded.
"Copy my breathing. Remember how we used to?" He nodded again and we did the old breathing exercise we did when we were kids and one of us would get overwhelmed or upset.
"You're okay. I promise.""Thank you." He whimpered and I stood up, causing him to grab my wrist.
"I'm just going to get you a glass of water, you can come with me if you'd like?" He let go of my wrist and stood up, not saying anything as we went into the kitchen. I took two glasses from the cupboard and filled them with water, placing one on the counter for Billy, before taking a sip of my own. He looked at it cautiously, before taking a drink.
"Why don't you tell me what you do remember?""I was in the Marines." He spoke after a few moments of silence.
"Frank was there and... and..." He grimaced, bringing his hand up to his head and hitting himself. I quickly put my glass down and took ahold of his wrists.
Billy looked at me with wide eyes, before lowering his hands back to his sides.
"I was in the hospital and I don't remember anything else. Everyone keeps telling me I committed all these crimes and..." His breath stuttered and I had to remind him to breathe again.
"I need you to help me. I don't have anyone else to turn to.""I know." I whispered, before offering him my hand.
"Come on." He looked confused, but took my hand anyway and I lead him out of the kitchen and up the stairs. I took him into the master bedroom, my bedroom, before letting go.
"You need to get some rest.""No." He shook his head.
"No- no- I can't. The dreams- the skull-""Shshsh, it's okay." I looked at him with a reassuring smile.
"I'll be right here with you." I promised, but he still looked terrified.
"Remember when I used to have night terrors? Remember what you used to do?""I'd stay with you whilst you slept." He muttered.
"To scare away the bad dreams.""Yeah." I nodded.
"And it's time I return the favour. Do you trust me to do that, Bill?""Yeah. I do." I gave him a genuine smile, before crawling into bed. I didn't care about getting changed. I was only in leggings and a tee, so it wasn't uncomfortable.
Billy hesitated, before getting in bed next to me, taking me by surprise when he rested his head in my lap. I pulled down his hood, which made him tense, but he didn't say anything, before running my fingers over his cropped hair."Get some sleep and when you wake up I'll fix us something to eat." I whispered.
"You're safe here, Billy."
