TWENTY-ONE

The first thing Hailey noticed when she opened her eyes was the unfamiliar surroundings. This wasn't her bed and it definitely wasn't her airbnb. The next thing she noticed was the lump with blonde hair under the covers next to her, with wide eyes she slowly peels the covers off her and realizes she's only in her underwear. Shit.

Slowly getting up from bed, she spots her clothes just a couple steps away when she hears the person in bed groaning and sitting up. To her surprise, it was only Madelyn.

"What the fuck?" she mumbles, clearly suffering from her hangover.
"Oh thank god." Hailey sighs in relief when she notices the situation she thought she was in wasn't actually happening. "I though I went home with someone for a second."
"You were walking out on me before I woke up? Damn Hails, I feel bad for your one night stands."

Hailey quickly shut the blonde girl up, pulling her clothes back on. She figured she was probably hot or something or just didn't feel like going to bed in her clothes, drunk Hailey and sober Hailey were two completely different people. After making some coffee and having something to eat, Hailey checked her phone seeing a few texts from Avery.

That's when she realized.

She never told Rudy.

Making up her mind in a rush, Hailey hid the other girl farewell and a good luck waking up Madison before grabbing her things and heading out the door. She was only hoping he'd be awake, but it was almost 2pm so she was almost certain he would be. Her nerves were going through the roof as her fist knocked against the door. It swung open only a few seconds later, revealing a disheveled, wide eyed Rudy.

"Hailey." he speaks, "Um, what are you doing here?"

"Look, I know my timings off and I really wanted to tell you this last night, I swear but Rudy I-"

"Rudy? Who's at the door?" and her heart stopped. Emerging from the bedroom right behind him was Elaine, in nothing but one of his shirts. Hailey had to take a big gulp in order to stop herself from crying, it didn't help that the aforementioned girl was giving her a wide, cocky smirk upon noticing her.

"What was it you wanted to tell me?" Rudy speaks again, his eyebrows raised at the brunette outside his door.

"Um, I'm leaving." she rushes, "Back to Australia. Tonight. I came to say bye, so, um, bye Rudy."

With her heart in her stomach and the biggest lump in her throat, she turned around and quickly made her way to the elevator. She didn't turn around when he called out to her, she didn't respond when he told her to wait, she just needed to leave. She was so stupid to even begin to think that Rudy still had any type of feelings for her. She was so stupid to ever think she could beat Elaine. She was so stupid.
