Rudy and Hailey met years ago at a club in Alaska, their short time together meant a lot to the two of them. What happens when they reconnect and undisclosed feelings start to resurface?

Hailey sets down her phone, making her way into the living room where Ben was currently seated. Taking a deep breath, she sits down next to him without a word, concerning him.
"I think we need to talk." Hailey speaks with a small smile, taking his hand in hers. "Maybe it's just me but, I don't know, are you happy? With me?"
"Of course i'm happy." Ben replies almost instantly, his brows furrowed at her question. "Why are we having this conversation?"
"Do you feel like something's missing sometimes?"
Silence engulfs them for a minute as the blonde boy thinks, he wasn't sure if they were having an honest conversation or if these were just doubts she's having about them. Ultimately making the decision to be completely honest with her, for the sake of both their happinesses.
"Honestly? Sometimes, yeah." he sighs, making the girl let out a breath of relief. "How, uh, how long have you felt like that?"
"A little while after getting to Italy, I think."
"Hailey, I am happy with you, I swear and I do love you but-"
"We're just not in love. I know."
They sat there holding each other's hands, basking in the new situation they found themselves in. They were both somewhat upset over their, now finished, time together but at the same time, they were happy it ended like this. With both of them at a mutual agreement.
"I don't want us to be strangers." she confesses, turning slightly to look at him better. "You're an amazing person, Ben, and I still want you in my life. If that's okay."
"It's more than okay, Hailey." he chuckles, pulling the girl into a smothering hug. "But you have to promise me something."
"What?"
"Talk things out with Rudy. Honestly, it's painful watching you two interact."
Hailey only laughs at his words, knowing he was probably speaking about last night. She had to admit that as much as she wanted to, she was still scared. Scared of the Pankow boys indecisiveness and scared of getting hurt again, she wasn't sure if she could put herself through that.
