Y/N and Harry sat in Dumbledore's office, the two on chairs as the man sat across from them. The girl's face had a cut running from above her eyebrow to just below it, along with one on her bottom lip. There were a few cuts on Harry's cheek, but it wasn't anything to two cousins couldn't handle.
"It's our faults," Y/N muttered out, her eyes glued to her hands that fiddled with each other. Dumbledore shook his head quickly. "No, the fault is mine." The two looked up to him shyly. "I knew it was only a matter of time before Voldemort made the connection between you two. I thought by distancing myself from you, as I have done all year, he'd be less tempted. Therefore, you might be more protected."
"The prophecies said: 'Neither one can live while the other survives'. It means one of us is gonna kill each other, in the end," Harry spoke up softly. Dumbledore looked at the two incredulously before he muttered out, "Yes."
Y/N's eyebrows furrowed together. "Why didn't you tell us?" Dumbledore only held a blank expression. "For the same reason you saved Sirius. The same reason your friends saved you. After all these years, after all you two have suffered, I didn't want to cause you any more pain. I cared too much about the both of you."
Y/N, nor Harry said anything back, silence taking over the headmaster's office.

The two cousins made their way down the Great Staircase towards a hallway. They seemed to mindlessly walk down the corridor before they spotted their friend hanging up posters on the wall. They both looked at each other confused as they approached Luna.
"How come you aren't at the feast," Harry asked, the girl turning to see them approaching. She softly smiled at them and pointed to the poster. "Lost all my possessions. Apparently people have been hiding them."
Y/N looked at the girl shocked. "Luna, that's awful."
"Oh, it's all good," she spoke in reply, "But as it's the last night, I really do need them back."
Harry and Y/N walked with her as she hung up another poster. "Do you want any or need any help finding them," Harry asked. Luna shook her head with a small smile before turning to Y/N. "You did a good job with Sirius, Y/N. Truly takes a good amount of bravery."
She reached her hand down to Y/N's giving it a light squeeze. The Ravenclaw returned the gesture with a soft laugh. "Thank you, Luna. Now, are you sure you don't want any help looking?" She shook her head, "That's alright. Anyway, my mom always said the things we lose have a way of coming back to us in the end."
Y/N and Harry' slowly nodded before they looked up, a pair of Luna's red, plaid converses hanging from the ceiling. Y/N let out a sigh as she rose her wand, untangling the laces from the beam they rested on. She flew them down to them, plopping them in her hands before looking to Luna with a small smile.
"I'm pretty sure this belongs to you, Lovegood."

The group of friends made their way towards the train station with bandages and gauges wrapped around them. Hermione and Y/N walked hand in hand as their friends walked next to them, Harry speaking up for a moment.
"I've been thinking about something Dumbledore said to us."
"What's that," Jenna asked. "That even though we've got a fight ahead of us, we've got one thing that Voldemort doesn't have."
"Yeah," Karan asked, "What's that?"
"Something worth fighting for," Harry said with a smile, the group approaching the station. Y/N left out a soft laugh as they climbed the steps, her eyes glued to Hermione's other hand wrapped in bandages. Her lips turned down into a slight frown, Hermione noticing.
"What's wrong?"
Y/N slowly reached over and gently took her injured hand, her thumb running over the white, soft material that wrapped it. "I'm so sorry you got hurt. It was my fault," she muttered out lowly, looking back up to Hermione. The bushy-haired girl kissed her cheek before cupping her face in her hands, the group now standing in front of the train.
"I'm alright, love. I promise, I'll be okay."
Y/N let out a sigh as she pushed their lips together in a soft kiss. "I'm never letting you get hurt again, I swear on my grave," she mumbled against her lips, Hermione giggling. An arm slung around both of shoulders causing the two to pull away and see their friends watching them with smirks.
"Wow, how cute," Brett said, guiding the girls to the train with the others, "But let's get you two home."
"Yeah, don't want to scare the kids with all of your snogging,"Corey snickered out, Ron laughing from next to him. Y/N rolled her eyes as she shook herself loose of Brett's arm and pulled Hermione towards her, planting her lips on hers for a firm kiss.
She could hear her friends let out a huff, smirking into the kiss as Hermione let out a small hum. "Get a room," Sofia and Brianne yelled out. "For Merlin's sake," Karan and Jenna muttered. Y/N didn't listen as she flipped them off before pulling away from Hermione with a small smile. Once the bushy-haired girl's eyes fluttered open, her heart melted, Y/N looking at her adoringly.
"I love you, Granger," Y/N said softly, Hermione letting out a giggle.
"And I love you as well."
