Chapter 12

As I head to bed that night, I have a sad feeling inside me. Is it true Peter is a Dark Mage, a hunter of the Elemental Mages? I fall a sleep as soon as my head hits my pillow.

I'm on the ground. Wait. I know where I am. It's this dream again. Will I know who is standing above me? I look up. It's Peter, wearing a dark colored cloak. I open my mouth to speak but no words come out. I feel extremely tired and weak. He's holding a dagger. "Nice knowing you, Rose." Peter says as he raises his arm, the one holding a dagger. His arm swings down....

I scream. I'm awake and sitting up in bed. "Rose?" I hear Anna say. She walks into my room. "Are you okay?" she asks, concerned. "Yes, I'm good." I say,"Just a dream."

"Do you want to tell me about it? If you don't, I understand."

I decide to tell Anna my dream. I tell her about the first dream, too. "I'm worried about you, Rose. I need to protect you at all costs. We also need to continue training." Anna says. "Okay." I agree.

After training all morning, I head inside to relax a bit. Anna must know what she's doing because she has a TV in this house. She must have interacted with teenagers before. First the car, now the TV. Even though I'm not really into TV, I watch it sometimes.

I turn to the news channel. My jaw drops. My face is on the screen. I turn up the volume to listen.

"... has been missing for nearly a week. Police are investigating for evidence about she might have gone. So far they haven't found much. Missing items from her room suggest she's taken some belongings, including her cell phone. If you've seen Rose Zenemij, please call the police immediately to report where you've last seen her.

"In other news..."

This is not good. If people at school see this, they're going to see the resemblance and know I'm Rose Zenemij, not Iris Seyer. Then police will find me and take me away and probably arrest Anna for pretending to be my mom.

I need to tell Anna. I run to find her. "Anna!" I shout. I find her in the backyard. "Anna!" I say. "What is it, Rose?" Anna asks.

"I've been reported missing on the news! Everyone gonna realize that's me and they'll call the police!"

"Then we're gonna have to find another place to stay. This time we'll change your appearance."

We hurry inside to collect our small possessions. As we're heading out to the backyard to run, I hear sirens getting louder and louder. They stop in front of the small house. Anna and I begin to run.

We run as fast as we can. But Anna suddenly stops in front of a car. She's opens it and gets in. "We're not stealing this car, are we?" I ask. "Get in!" Anna says. I decide to climb in. Anna begins to drive to toward the city. I don't know what Anna thinks she's doing, but her plans haven't failed yet.

Then I see where she's going. She's driving to the park. We get out of the car, not bothering to close the doors. I follow Anna to where she's running. She stops in front of a tree. The tree is short with yellow and orange leaves, even though it's no where near autumn. "A portal?" I ask. "Yes." Anna says.We stand in front of the tree look up and close our eyes.

The wind sounds begin.
