I awake. I'm alive and breathing. Where am I? I think. The room I'm in is dimly lit. It's a big, open space. Actually, it looks for like a cave than a room. Or maybe it is a cave.
Now that my vision is adjusting, I can see it is a cave. My wrists are tied behind my back and my ankles are tied, too. I'm lying on a rough surface. Water is dripping from the ceiling.
Now I've realized something. How am I in a cave when I used to be in a city. How long have I've be unconscious? What's important for now is that I'm awake, alive, and breathing.
I hear footsteps getting louder with each step. Getting closer. "I see you're awake, Rose." says a familiar male voice. Peter. I begin to struggle against the knots keeping my wrists together. "Let me go!" I yell.
"What's the rush?"
"Let...me...go!"
"I'm afraid I can't do that. As you've probably figured out I'm a Dark Mage, a member of the Black Star Union. And as I've figured out, you are the Earth Mage. The most important of the three."
"At least tell me where we are."
"Your home. In the forest next to your house. About a mile away."
I'm so close to home. So close to the place I grew up, happy and blind of the future for me. That's when I notice my satchel in a corner of the cave. The satchel I carry my wand in.
The wand that could save me. I need to get my hands on it. "I'll be right back." Peter says, leaving the room. I search the room with my eyes for something to cut the ropes.
I spot a sharp corner of the cave. I roll off the stone table and move toward the corner. I use the corner as a saw, trying to cut the rope off. I succeed. I pull off the ropes off my ankles and run to my satchel. The wand is missing.
Of course they would search my satchel. All that's left is my dark green cloak, my phone, and school-related objects. I put on the cloak and leave the cave. I look outside. Trees and plants. I notice something. A worn down truck. I search it for my wand.
In a wooden crate, I find it in good condition. "I don't think you're going anywhere." a voice says. I whip my head behind me. Peter had found me. I begin to run.
The sun is setting and I don't know if that's good or bad. Suddenly I realize what's happening. I living my nightmare. I never saw the end, but I think I know what happens. I can't stop running now.
I need to think and I need to think fast. A spell. I need to summon an animal. What's fast, can hold my weight, and can fight? The first thing I think of is lion. Panthera leo. I quickly recite the spell.
I see a transparent lion appear next to me. How may I aid you? the lion asks. I need you to take me a mile in this direction! I say. The lion gets down. I quickly get on him and hold on tightly to his neck.
He began to run. I decided to summon a wooden bow and iron tipped as a precaution. I checked the area around me. Nothing but trees. Isn't Peter going to follow us.
I hear loud crashes. Trees are falling behind us. Peter is following us. A large machine is breaking down trees. That's when I see what the machine is. A mechanical lion, powered by magic.
Peter is riding it. I doubt my arrows will cause much damage to the machine. But I will damage Peter. But I couldn't just kill him. He was my friend since middle school. But it might've just so he could blend in. Search for the Elemental Mages.
I try to aim for his arms and legs, places where it'll hurt but not kill him. But it's dark and I can't see well. We're almost out of the forest. the lion says. Peter is gaining on us. "Stop, Rose!" Peter shouts.
I see the clearing. I'm going to make it. Suddenly my vision darkens. I've gone blind. I can only see about a foot in front of me. Peter must've cast a spell. The lion must've been affected too because he slowed to stop.
I fall to the ground. Lion?! I call out. He's gone. Then my vision is back, Peter stand over me. "Nice knowing you, Rose." he says and I scream.
