Yes. Yesss. I'm really mastering my spells. Becoming the Earth Mage I'm meant to be. When I go see Anna today, she looks...worried. "Is everything okay, Anna?" I ask. "They know where you are." she says, not looking at me.
"What?"
"The Society of the Black Star. They know where we are."
"Society of the Black Star?"
"It's a society of all the dark creatures who want to destroy the elements. The elemental mages need to stay hidden from them. If the mages are killed, they can easily destroy the elements. We need to leave this area. Soon."
Leave?! I can't just leave my family and friends behind. Anna must've read my mind because she says,"I know you care about your mother and your friends, but you're an elemental mage. You need to be protected, Rose. We have to go." I stay quiet for a few seconds. I finally nod in agreement. "We will leave tomorrow night." she says.

Tomorrow at school during lunch, I head to my friends' table. They look up. "Hey guys. I just wanted to say-" I say but I'm cut off by Charity. "Finally you're gonna tell us what's going on with you."
"No, not exactly."
"So what?"
"I just want to say, I'll miss you guys. If you don't care what happens to me, fine. Just want you to know you will probably not see me here ever again."
I'm holding back tears as I leave the table. No one says anything. I won't be missed. Good. It makes everything easier for them and for me.

Peter confronts me after school again. "What was that?" he asked. "What was what?" I reply.
"That mini speech you gave at lunch. Are you leaving the school or something?"
"Something like that."
"You can't just leave!"
"Well our friends don't seem to care!"
"Yes they do! After you left, they all looked worried and thought it's their fault you're leaving."
I'm stunned. They do care. Which makes the process of me leaving tonight harder than it needs to be. "Well I'm sorry, I have to leave. I'll miss all of you." I say. I wrap my arms around his neck and kiss him. Then I get in my car and leave, watching my school dissapear behind me.

I have a letter ready for my mom when I leave tonight. It reads:
Dear Mom,
I have left for certain reasons that you won't believe and/or understand. No, I have not run away so don't call the police. I would stay with you if my reason for leaving is so important. I will always love you. I'll miss you.
Sincerely, Rose
I've decided to leave in the middle of the night when she's asleep. I do everything that night. Cook dinner, wash dishes, and do some chores that were incomplete. Before she went to bed, I hugged her and said,"I love you, Mom." "I love you too, my little flower." she replied, which brought tears to my eyes. I've always been her little flower, I've always been there for her since my father had died in an accident when I was only 2 years old. I have no siblings to stay with her.
She'll be alone for her life because of me. She once said she'd never love another man. She's truly a loyal woman.

12am. Midnight. It's time to go. I get out of bed and put on black jeans, a camouflage shirt, and my brown boots. I grab my leather satchel and fill it with my wand, spell papers, and a few keepsakes. I debating whether or not I should take my phone. I decide to take it. If Anna says to destroy it will.
I leave the letter on the table and quietly leave the house. I run quickly and as quietly as I can to the woods. Anna is waiting for me. "Hurry, child. We must go now." she says when I'm close enough to hear. She has her own satchel hanging on her. "Here, Rose, wear this." she says as she hands me a dark green cloak for me to wear.
I put it on and we begin to run.
