After we recover from the shock of what just happened, we knew we had to do something about Peter. The spell Winter cast won't last forever.

"We'll have to kill him." Anna says. "What?! Why?" I say, my eyes wide. Even though he tried to kill me, I still don't have the heart to kill him.

"You know why, Rose. He's a Dark Witch. He'll just keep on trying to capture us mages."

I say nothing. I know Anna is right. But I can't kill him. I won't kill him. But we can't let him live. Not after his last attempt to kill me. "Fine." I say, filled with dread.

It's time. We are deep in the woods, away from civilization. Apparently to kill a Dark Witch, you need to kill it the heart or brain or burn it.

Just to get over with, we choose the first option. Anna holds a silver knife. We have Peter tied up. He's struggling against the ropes.

Winter is here as a support for me. So if I break down, she'll be right by my side. "Ready to meet your end, Peter?" Anna asks Peter. He struggles more in response, frustrated sounds coming from his mouth.

Anna gets in position. She draws back the knife. As pushes the knife into Peter's chest, I look away. I hear a thud as Peter falls to the ground.

Tears roll down my cheeks and fall on the ground. Anna takes Peter's limp body and drops it into a hole in the ground. She gets a shovel and starts piling dirt on him.

Once it's all over, we head back to Peoria.

The ritual where I will become a full mage is coming close. About a month away. I've perfected all my spells, although I will make a mistake once in a while.

We will wear the outfits Elemental Mages wear everyday. We will wait at three doors that lead into the same room for the ritual.

I'm really excited and nervous at the same time. It's what Winter and I talk about everyday. But today's conversation was different.

"Do you still miss your family sometimes?" Winter asks during lunch. The question surprised me. "To be honest, I don't think about my mom and the friends I left behind much anymore." I say.

"Really? I think about them at least once everyday."

"I guess I've had so much craziness going on, I didn't think of the people I love because my mind was on other things."

"Oh."

We just sat there, pondering about everything. The bell rang and it jolted us back into reality. "Well, I'll see you later then." Winter says. I wave as I walk away.
