Chapter 2

I awake. Sixteen. But that doesn't mean anything has changed. My birthday breakfast awaits me. I have on an orange and white striped tank top, dark skinny jeans, black converse, and my hair in a braid. As I pass a window, I swear I see someone outside it. Nothing is there when I chack. My silly imagination. I eat breakfast, say bye to my mom, and go on my way to school.

Charity waits at my locker. "How are you, b-day girl?" she says, as she pulls me into a hug. " I'm good." I say. She hands me a small box. "I was asked by a certain someone to deliver this to you. Apparently, couldn't wait until the party." Charity smiles. Peter. "Well? Aren't you gonna open it?" she asks. "Maybe later." I stuff it into my backpack. I wonder what's in it. The rest of the school day is a blur.

It's 5pm. 1 hour until my little party. It's a warm summer evening. I hear my phone buzz. Probably a text from Charity. But no. I don't recognize the number.

After your party, go to the forest near your home. Don't tell anyone you're going. Just trust me. It's very important that you come, Rose -unknown

What the heck?! Who is this person? How do they know my name? That I have a party today? That I live near the woods? I don't know, I don't know, I don't know! Should I go? They seem to know an awful lot about me. I don't know.

I remember the small gift in my backpack from Peter. I might as well open it now. Inside is a charm bracelet. There are 5 charms: a tree, a bird, a sun, a star, a heart. Where did he get this? I absolutely loved it. I'll wear it to my little party. My planned outfit was a sparkly yellow top, jean shorts, with black sneakers on my feet. I'll let my hair down, which I rarely do. Its almost always in a braid. I'm ready for my little party.

My birthday party was great. All my friends had fun and each had a present in their hands for me. Charity gave me a book I had really wanted(I love to read), Kimberly gave me new headphones, Amy gave me art supplies, Manny gave me a gift card, and Will gave me a necklace with a moon pendant attached to it. "Thanks guys! You're all the best!" I said to my friends. As everyone left my house, Peter said,"See you later, Rose." and pressed a kiss to my lips. I kissed him back. We broke apart and he left. But then I remembered something. The text I'd gotten. Should I go? I will, even though it might not be wise. "Mom I'm gonna go outside to get...some fresh air." I told my mom. "Okay but hurry back." she replied. This has to be quick. I hurried to the forest. "Hello? Anyone out here?" Those are my last words before my head it put into a bag and I'm knocked out.
