Earthspell

Chapter 3

I don't know how long its been. It could've been minutes. It could've been hours. All I know is I'm awake and alive. For now. No. I can't think like that. I will be okay. I awake in a small shack. I see a woman. A cloak covering her body and she has straight black hair with grey streaks beginning to appear. "Oh. You've awaken. Welcome, Rose." the woman says. "Who are you?" I ask.

"My name is Anna."

"Okay.... Where am i? Why am I here?"

"You are a chosen one. You are to become an elemental mage."

What is going on?! First I'm lured to the forest to be kidnapped. Next I awake in a shack with some crazy woman. And now, I'm apparently a "chosen one"?! This must be a dream. "My dear child, I don't mean to frighten you." Anna says. "Let me go! You are insane!" I scream.

"Let me explain, Rose. You were chosen since you were born to be an elemental mage. A person who keeps an element in balance. Who has special powers. You are chosen to be the Earth Mage."

"No! I'm just a normal sixteen year old girl who has been kidnapped!"

She just sighs. "Haven't you noticed the bond between you and creatures of this earth? How you have a passion for nature?" Anna asks. She's right. I love nature and it loves me. "I guess you're right. But I don't know how to use my 'powers' in any special way." I tell her.

"That's why I need to talk to you. I will train you to be the powerful Earth Mage you're meant to be."

But there's one thing that's still on my mind. "You said elemental mages. So are there others?" I ask. "Yes. The two others are the Water Mage and the Fire Mage. You will meet them some time. But right now I need to train you."

"When will you begin training me?"

"Your training starts tomorrow, at 5pm everyday. You will learn earthspells, which are just songspells used by an Earth Mage."

"Songspell?"

"A spell that is performed by a special song."

"Okay. So I'll see you tomorrow then?"

"Yes. Have a goodnight, Rose."

As I head toward the exit, I realize something. "Wait how do I get home?" I ask Anna. "Just walk straight forward. It's a 5 minute walk." she tells me.

I find my house and head in. How will I explain my absence? But I check the clock on the wall and apparently, I've only been gone for 3 minutes. Strange. Maybe a songspell Anna was talking about stopped time for our meeting.

Soon the truth sinks in. I'm a chosen one. An elemental mage. Out of all the people in the world, I was chosen. Me, an Earth Mage. Interesting.

After school, I wait impatiently for 5pm to happen. When does, I tell my mom I'm going to head out for a bit. I put on some shoes and head out to the forest. "Anna?" I call out. Maybe I should head to the shack.

I walk the 5min and I see the little shack. I wonder how long its been there. Maybe it's only temporary. I head in. "Hello, Rose." Anna says as she hands me a stick with a small green crystal globe at the top.

"What is this? A wand?"

"Yes. Your earthspells need to be performed with a song and the appropriate wand."

"What kind of spells can I do?"

"Many spells. The most important types you should learn is spirit animal spells and the earth spells."

"What do they do?"

"Spirit animal spells conjure any animal spirit that ever lived on this earth. I don't recommend you try to summon dinosours. You should start with animals that are still alive for starters."

"And the earth spells?"

"You will be able to manipulate the earth around you to defend yourself or use it like a weapon."

"Okay." So many things I can learn to do. And all of them are incredible. "For now I'll give you a sheet with basic commands you can do. Practice them." Anna tells me,"You may head home."
