After eating the delicious lasagna and doing the dishes, we were ready to paint. Liam and Harry moved all the furniture, which really just included the couch and a lamp in the middle of the room while Louis and I trimmed the bottom of the walls with painters tape. We had to be careful because we realized we didn’t have anything to put on the carpet incase paint spilled, but I thought we were going to be okay. I was wrong.
I soon learned that having Harry and Louis with paint in the same room was not a good idea. First it was just a little smudge on the nose and then it turned into whole handprints on the wall and splattering and chasing around with paintbrushes.
“Guys be careful! Paint on walls, not faces!” I said. I wouldn’t mind it so much if I could afford more, but I wouldn’t be buying anything else until I was sure I got the job or not.
“Oh come on, Jovi, have a little fun,” Lou said with a wink. I gave a small smile and turned back to rolling the paint on with Liam. Louis came over to me with his hands behind his back and said, “I’m sorry Jovi, let me make it up to you,”
“Louis, you don’t ha-“
Suddenly I was grabbed from behind by Harry who yelled, “Now Louis, now!” Louis, who I now could see had each fingertip dipped in paint started drawing on my face.
“LOU- STOP! HA- NO!” I couldn’t get a sentence out because every time I tried he would paint over my mouth! Once my face was thoroughly painted I looked at Liam, “Thanks for the help, friend!”
“No problem!” he grinned.
Harry took his phone out and took a picture of me.
“HARRY!” Louis said, “Do not take a picture of the lady like that!”
“Thank you Louis!” I said.
“Take one with me in to too!” he exclaimed.
“Not what I meant,” I said laughing but I put my arms around him to pose for the picture. At the last minute I looked up and kissed his cheek, giving him a big white kiss mark.
“Aww, Louis has a kiss mark!” cooed Liam, thoroughly enjoying all this. At least I could count on him to paint properly.
“I shall never wash this cheek again!” he said proudly glancing at me. I knew there was more to that than he let on, and thinking back I probably shouldn’t have kissed him. It was the week we would try just being friends after all.
I took my roller and continued painting. At ten o’clock Harry had to get going, but promised to be back over soon. The boys set up a time to get together with Niall and Zayn and talk more about the band. Harry hugged and kissed me goodbye. He came here a few hours ago a total stranger and left a new friend. I loved when things like that happened.
“By boo-bear!” he called to Louis, “Happy birthday tomorrow!”
After he left the three of us took off the tape strips and made sure there wasn’t any paint on the floor – which to my surprise there wasn’t. We had gotten the whole living room done, with two coats of paint and everything. The next part was going to be the kitchen, but that would be for another day. It was amazing how big of a difference it made. The room looked so much brighter, and even a little bigger.
Once everything was cleaned up, Liam said he should probably get back to his flat as well. He was on call and wanted to get some sleep just in case there was a fire in the middle of the night. Apparently those were more common than I thought. I thanked him for all his help, and promised to tell him how to interview went.
