“They are just having me work the register until my ankle gets better and I can do floor work then,” I said to Ashley. She came to visit me on my break at work and we were sitting in the café sipping on the tea I got us with my employee discount. “That’s good, I’m glad you found a job!”

“I know I can’t wait for my first pay check! I’ll save most of it, but I’m going to buy more paint for my walls and get some decent food other than frozen dinners and ramen. I’m so tired of them!”

“I can help you paint if you want!” Ashley offered.

“Awesome! Luckily my place isn’t big at all so I think we will only need one more can of it,”

“So, are you excited to meet the other members of the band?” she asked.

“Yeah, I’ve heard really good things about Niall and Zayn!”

I looked up as Louis walked in the store for his shift, he caught my eye and came over to sit with us. “Ashley this is Louis, Louis this is Ashley,” I introduced.

He shook her hand, “Hello Ashley! I hope Jovi here hasn’t told you anything too bad about me! If she has said anything other than how devilishly handsome and witty I am, don’t believe her,” Ashley laughed, “She hasn’t told me, I had to find out all on my own!”

Lou gasped in shock and turned to me. “Why haven’t you been spreading the news of how devilishly handsome and witty I am, Jovi!? Are you trying to deprive the world?!”

He was just so ridiculous sometimes, it always made my day better.

“Sorry Lou, I guess I just was trying to keep you all to myself, but that’s hard to do when you just walk down the street and blind everyone with your good looks and charm!”

“Well it is pretty hard to contain. I just have to spread it with others, if I don’t I might burst,”

“You guys are so cute!” Ashley exclaimed.

“Louis! Clock in and get crackin’!” said Bart, the guy working the café. Louis glared at him and turned back to us. “Great to meet you Ashley, can’t wait to see you tomorrow!”

“Yeah, you as well!” she replied enthusiastically.

“See ya later, Jov,” he said with a wink. It seemed as the friend’s week was drawing to an end he was getting a bit flirtier. Not that I was complaining, but I just need to get my stuff figured out. Liam helped loads last night. He just let me talk everything out and gave me advice for learning to trust Louis. He said things like a label doesn’t change anything, and it is just a word that psyches me out. And he made me tell him everything I liked about Louis and everything I liked about past guys in my life and we compared how much more Louis means to me than those guys ever did. That really helped me relax about it a bit more.

“Why aren’t you guys dating?” Ashley exclaimed. “Well…starting Sunday we will,” I continued to explain everything to her.

“Well crap, Jovi! I’ve never heard of any guy doing that! He must really care about you!” I smiled at her, “That’s what everyone keeps saying…”

“It’s so obvious; don’t you see the way he looks at you? I just met the guy and I noticed how he couldn’t take his eyes off you!”

“I’m just scared! I’m like so scared I’ve convinced myself I couldn’t possibly date him!”

“Oh stop being stupid and just dive in head first! Allow yourself to feel all the good feelings you are holding yourself back from! Life starts at the end of your comfort zone!”
