The next day at work I was really tired. I didn’t get much sleep from the night before because I got home so late. Having a job now was great, and I’m not complaining at all, it was just really boring standing at the register all day. I would have preferred to be at the hospital with Ashley, but I was only working a five hour shift today and I only had an hour left. Louis came walking in for the start of his day and gave me a wink and a smile. I wished he was up working the registers with me instead of Monica, but he had to be in the back restocking books. After a while a tall guy came up to me to check out a book. I looked up at him and said, “Hey, you’re the guy who bought all those books to impress that girl! How’s it going?”

He smiled and said, “I wonder if you’d recognize me. It didn’t work out too well with her. Apparently you can only woo a closet lesbian so much,”

“Oh! Wow, I’m sorry to hear that!” I said trying not to be amused too much at his misfortune.

“It’s no big deal, the books were good,” he said and added, “Where are you from?” That was by far the most common question customers asked me. “Iowa,” I replied.

“Never heard of it,”

“There’s not much to hear about,”

I handed him his bag and before he left he asked, “You by chance uh…don’t have a boyfriend do you?”

“Well you sure got over that other girl pretty fast! Yes in fact I do,”

He walked away with an “It was worth the shot,” and Monica turned to me, “Whose your boyfriend?” I really didn’t want to tell her just so she could one up me, she would probably say something stupid like she was one of Tiger Woods girls.

“You wouldn’t know him,” I said trying to get off the topic.

“Wouldn’t know who?” Louis asked coming over to talk and distract himself from his work.

“Jovi has a boyfriend, don’t you know,” Monica said

“Does she? Well Jovi, do tell!” he said grinning widely.

“His name is…William…and yeah, that’s about it,” I said trying not to look at Louis who was trying not to laugh.

“Well what is he like?” probed Monica, “Is he good in bed?”

Louis burst out laughing, not being able to contain himself anymore, and I let out a few chuckles.

“Fantastic,” I replied as Louis kept laughing.

“What’s so funny?” Monica asked annoyed sounded turning to Louis, “Why can’t you let us have our girl talk?”

Is that what she called this? I called it wishing work was over.

“What if I told you I’ve seen him?” Louis replied looking at her.

“Is he cute?” she asked now fully including him in the ‘girl talk.’

“He’s actually pretty ugly. The fact that he could be good in bed looking like that is hilarious,” he said

I wasn’t sure what to say! Louis was being stupid and Monica was being…Monica.

“Does he talk dirty and all that good stuff with you?” she asked me making Louis snort.

“You know it’s kind of personal stuff we are talking about…” I said trying to get off subject.

“No, go on, we are all friends here, do you talk dirty to each other?” Louis asked clearly amused.

I looked at him and glared. “We do more than just that,” I lied, “We are full on fifty shades. We are even saving up for our own little…pleasure room,” I had to swallow down the last words trying not to crack up with Louis. Monica was eating this up. I spent the next ten minutes telling her these ridiculous made up stories and before I knew it my shift was up! Louis followed me to the break room and we had an outright laugh about the whole thing.
