Taylor’s POV

I spent the night on the sofa in what I presumed was Jeremy and Elena’s house. But at the break of dawn I woke Jeremy and Elena, telling them to get ready as I was going to train them. Jeremy asked for help yesterday, hence why he was getting up at this God forsaken time too.

Once the pair was both awake I led the pair into the forest, into a section that was a bit clearer than the rest. When we got there I put the duffle bag down and smiled.

“Okay, so I have some of Alaric’s odd weapons he has made to fight vampires with. To be honest you should learn to fight without weapons, like to injure a vampire so you can escape, as I highly doubt you’ll be carrying around weapons with you all of the time. I’m only here to help you stay alive, when fighting with a vampire but I will try to teach you how to kill them,” I shrugged kneeling down.

I knelt down next to the bag, opening it up to take out a cloth dummy that was the size of an average person.

“Okay task one. Jeremy hang this from the tree,” I stated handing him the dummy.

“Why?” He asked.

“Don’t question me,” I frowned, “I’m too short as is Elena, and this is the vampire we shall be trying to kill. I would let you stab me, but I’m not a vampire and although I heal quicker than humans, it’ll bloody hurt and could kill me. So go hang the dummy, dummy.”

He rolled his eyes and walked over to the tree I had pointed at. He used the rope on the dummy to hang it from the tree before he made his way to stand next to his sister.

“Okay, so firstly we are going to ignore the dummy, we’re going to learn how to fight. Jeremy you’ll probably be better seen as you’re taller and probably stronger than Elena, but Elena is probably quicker,” I explained.

I then went on to show them how to defend themselves against vampires and how they can injure a vampire to stop them from killing you. This was only the basic stuff that I knew I should really tell them, as they won’t always have a stake or anything else to kill a vampire on them.

I also explained to them the importance to have vervain on them to stop compulsion and also to injure vampires if their attacked.

After that I showed them how to use various forms of stakes and different ways they can kill vampires. It was kind of funny seen as the dummy kept moving every time they went to hit it. Granted a vampire would move, but the dummy just kept swaying.

Elena went to hit the dummy with the stake but it moved causing her to accidentally throw the stake off into the forest.

I let out a soft laugh, “I’ll go find it.”

I walked off into the direction of which the stake had been thrown. As I walked I kept my head down looking for a stake on a floor covered by twigs.

Something stopped me from walking as I walked into a hard object. I looked up to see a familiar vampire stood in front of me.

“Taylor, what are you doing here? You look exactly the same,” He stated.

“I’m helping some friends with self-defence, and you look exactly the same too.”

“Yes but Taylor I’m a vampire. Are you?” He frowned.

“No, but I am immortal,” I smirked, “I’m a true vampire hunter.”

I could see the confusion flush over him before anger took over it. Out of nowhere he pushed me to the ground. I patted the ground around me looking for the stake but to no avail, as when I found it, it was due to it being in his hand.

“You were the one who killed her,” He hissed.

“If you’re going to kill me, then just kill me,” I growled attempting to get up but he held me to the floor.

“I’m not going to kill you Taylor. But I’m sure Elijah will when he finds out,” he smirked.

I expected him to get up and leave, but instead he rammed the piece of wood into my upper leg first. I let out a sharp cry as he sped off into the forest. Quickly Jeremy and Elena were by my side.

“What happened Taylor?” Jeremy asked.

“Klaus happened. I need one of you to pull the stake out of my leg. It’ll heal quicker than it would for a human but it’ll still take a while,” I stated through gritted teeth.

“I don’t think I can,” Elena said.

“Please Jeremy,” I begged.

I could tell he certainly didn’t want to do it, not that I could blame him for not wanting to do it seen as the stake was very much imbedded in the bone of my leg, and this wasn’t going to be pretty.

He put his hands onto the wood but hesitated, “what do I do?”

“On the count of three, pull as hard as you can,” I stated.

He nodded still not seeming certain. I would think that I should be the one who is uncertain and not the one giving him the countdown to pull the piece of wood out of my leg.

“Okay. One. Two-“

I couldn’t get to three as I was screaming from him already pulling the stake out. It hurt like a bitch.

“What part of three didn’t you understand?” I growled.

“Sorry, I thought it’d be un-expected and you therefore couldn’t back out,” he shrugged still looking overly pale.

“Yes because I was happy with the chunk of wood in my leg. Now could one of you please use something to wrap up my leg, like a top or a jumper or something,” I sighed.

The pair looked at one another before Jeremy pulled off his shirt wrapping it around my leg which would begin healing soon.

“Thank you, now we need to try and get home,” I chuckled.
