Madeleine’s POV

“Madeleine what are you doing here?” My older brother questioned pulling the blond girl to his side.

“Niklaus, have you missed me?” I smirked, “It’s been a while.”

His face dropped even more and I could see his grip on the girl was getting tighter. I had never seen his facial expression on him before, as it looked like fear. I had seen many people look like that around him, but I hadn’t seen him look like that before.

 “Fear,” I whispered, “So who are you then darling, you are overly beautiful for Niklaus’ company.”

“I’m Caroline,” She said softly, “Who are you?”

“I’m Maddie, I’m sure you’ve never heard of me as I have been daggered in a box because of your sick boyfriend,” I hissed staring at my brother, “Niklaus I do believe we need to chat.”

Hastily, I grabbed my brother’s hand pulling out the front of the building. As we exited I frowned crossing my arms over my chest.

“Madeleine who let you out of your casket?” He frowned gripping my upper arm tightly.

The pain was crippling and I knew within seconds he could pull my arm from its socket.

“Niklaus stop it this instant,” A voice bellowed causing him to stop inflicting pain.

I turned around and although my eyes were blurry due to the build-up of tears I saw the one person I had missed the most.

“Elijah,” I smiled softly running over to him.

He pulled me into a big hug, which only caused me to cry even more. Over the years I had become stronger than I could have ever expected but Elijah was always the one who protected me so that just made me weaker.

Niklaus had done his best at keeping us apart since we were human, and it tore me apart but it made me stronger and made me challenge Niklaus’ power, but now I was just his little sister.

“Niklaus, in what world do you think that you can bully your sister into backing down to you?” Elijah exclaimed.

“Don’t.” I stated, “Elijah, I have missed you more than anyone but I don’t need you to stand up for me anymore. Not having you there for me, for all these years has made me be able to stand up for myself and I can stand up to Niklaus.”

I turned from my favoured older brother to the one I liked the least.

“What are you going to do little girl?” Niklaus shouted, “You are nothing compared to me. As you were in that coffin, you probably wouldn’t know this but I am now a hybrid again.”

“I know Niklaus, but don’t mess with me, I may be younger than you and frankly weaker than you but I can kill you. For all those years you kept me from seeing my brother, I’ve been traveling and speaking to witches, finally I found a weapon to kill you,” I smirked, “But I won’t use it. Well not yet, but remember this, I will use it at some point if you mess with my family.”

Elijah pulled me into a hug before leading me away from Klaus.

When Elijah got me into another room away from Klaus and the guests at the ball he smiled down at me pulling me into another hug.

“You really need to try and not rile him up. You know one day you are going to end up being killed by him. He loves you dearly Madeleine but his temper is becoming shorter by the day and soon enough he is going to snap,” He sighed as he let me out of the hug.

“I know Elijah, but I thought it’d only be fair to rile him up a little bit after I had been stuck in that casket because of him. But I am just glad I am back with my family. Speaking of which are the others here? It’s been too long since I’ve seen any of you,” I smiled softly.

“Yes, all three of them are somewhere here; you just need to find them. You know our siblings, they’ll probably not be too hard to find,” He chuckled.

“Thank Elijah, I’ll find you later, but at the moment I do believe I need to find our beloved siblings.”

I quickly left the room not being able to wait to find my other siblings who I hadn’t seen in many years. 

As soon as I got back into the main hall I instantly saw one of my brothers. When I caught sight of him I began to run even though it was rather uncomfortable in my dress, but as I got to him I accidently used him to stop the running causing him to fall over along with myself.

He groaned rolling over to see me grinning at him.

“Maddie? Nik said you were dead,” He stated looking shocked for the obvious reason that he just explained.

“Nope, I was daggered, but I’m not dead. Well technically I am but I am still the same sort of dead that you are.  Blame Klaus for me being daggered although I do remember last time I saw you, Klaus was just about to dagger you too,” I shrugged standing up.

“He did. He daggered me and I was only just un-daggered, which I guess is the same in your case,” He shrugged.

When we were human, Kol and I were never the closest out of our siblings, mainly because of conflicting views in how our family was as he was closer to Klaus and Rebekah whist I was closer to Elijah and Finn. But when we become vampires we both thought they were truly dead as they hadn’t woke up when we did so we fled together forcing us to become closer. This meant even when we were reunited with the others we were still relatively close.

~*~ Flashback ~*~

It felt as if everything was burning as my eyes shot open. It was as if I had swallowed acid as my throat burned. Looking around Elijah was still unconscious on the ground but Kol was rubbing his chest where the blood covered his top.

“What happened Kol?” I questioned.

“Father killed us. But I don’t understand why we’re still alive and Elijah isn’t,” He stated.

“I don’t know, but we can’t stay here. What if Father is still here and he truly wants us dead? Elijah is dead and I have no idea what happened to the other three. We need to leave,” I sighed with a few tears falling down my cheeks.

He nodded standing up on shaky feet, before he helped me stand up as well. Together we made our way slowly across our village until we began running as far away as we could. Surprisingly we were running faster than I could ever expect either of us to.

We carried on running until suddenly a sweet smell flooded my nose. I stopped in my tracks causing him to stop as well. Without saying a word I began to slowly walk towards the clearing in the forest where a man lay asleep. It was as if the smell was coming from him but that was impossible.

Before I could think Kol pounced at the man digging his newly sharp teeth into the man’s throat. As the red liquid spilled out of him, it was clear that, that was what smelled so nice. Taking my brother’s lead I quickly made my way over to the man biting into the man’s wrist allowing myself to drink his blood.
