Narrator's Pov:
When noon came, Liu Yang and Chen Jun closed up the windows and locked the doors. They each placed a sealing spell on the doors to prevent animals or people from trespassing. Their time in Meishan has drawn to an end and it was time to go elsewhere to offer their services.
Before they leave though, they go to an inn to have lunch. The two sat down at a table and after ordering, they chatted while they waited to be served.
Liu Yang: "It's still so strange to be the one to be served, instead of the one serving. I wonder if Uncle Yü and the others still remember me."
"Thank you." Ah-chen said when the waiters arrived with their food. He turns to Liu Yang, "Who's Uncle Yü?"
Liu Yang rests her head on her palm, "Did I not tell you about him? I swore I did--nevermind. Uncle Yü is the owner of an inn in Caiyi, the one I worked at for a short while to earn back some money."
She picks up her chopsticks and breathes in the chicken broth. Her mouth waters and she scoops some into a bowl. "I'll introduce you to him the next time we're in Caiyi. And hey, I can even send you to work there when we run out of money!"
Ah-chen chest deflates at that, "Please don't make me."
Liu Yang chuckles, "Okay, stop yapping. The food is getting cold, it'll all go to waste if you don't eat up."
"Sorry." Ah-chen picks up his chopsticks and stuffs a vegetable into his mouth. They eat in silence, listening to the bustle of the market outside and the different conversations inside the inn.
Liu Yang gets lost in chewing at some point and her mind drifts off: Such a shame the Yu disciples didn't make their rounds here.
When she comes back, it's to Chen Jun staring at someone behind her. She chides him, "Ah-chen, how old are you already? You know it's rude to stare at people, no matter how ugly a man's moustache looks."
Ah-chen bites down a giggle and calls to the person behind Liu Yang. "He-xiong, it's so good to see you again!"
Liu Yang's eyes widened and her lower jaw drops. Did she hear that right? Bing Wen is here?
She turns in her chair and lo and behold, He Bing Wen sits two tables from them. His face shows an equally surprised expression and his mouth is a little agape.
The chopsticks in his hands go slack and he drops the chicken it had been holding.
The chicken plops into a bowl of soup, splashing its contents onto Bing Wen's green and red robes. He ducks his head as he cleans the small stains with his sleeves. When he looks up again, his face is pink as he gives Liu Yang a shy wave and a smile.
Liu Yang feels as her heart picks up in pace and she smirks when she suddenly feels bold. She rises to her feet and sauntered towards him with her hands behind her back.
She leans a hand on the table and bats her eyelashes like the other pretty women she's seen do, "Young Master He, what owes this one the pleasure of meeting you here?"
Something in her leaps with joy at the sight of the lovely blush on the man's cheeks. Bing Wen shakes his head lightly, "It-it is all merely a coincidence..."
"Or maybe it's fate!" Chen Jun says with a teasing grin.
It was Liu Yang's turn to blush. Her body goes red from head to toe, both from annoyance and embarassment. She shoots her son a glare that could make anyone want to eat their words.
"Maybe it is." She looks back at Bing Wen when she hears him musing. The confidence from before leaves her and she anxiously plays with her hair. "Well, erhm, it was nice seeing you here. I'll-I'm going to go, go back there--uhm--now."
