Narrator's Pov:
"They're dead." Liu Yang begins to sob, but because she's also trying not to, it makes her face twist in an ugly manner. WuXian fights the urge to cringe at that.
Both WuXian and Wangji's faces fell, and they glanced at each other than looked at Liu Yang with sympathy. They didn't need any further explanation to know what she meant.
She tells them about what happened. Pouring everything out with a mix of cut-off sentences and incoherent muttering. She tells them about returning to the Chen's hut to find it ravaged and broken into.
She tells them about finding Ah-chen's parents dead on the floor. She tells them about the bandits and how she made a deal with them so they'd let Ah-chen live.
Then about her capture, and her eventual escape.
"Ah-chen was so brave." Liu Yang said, giving a strained smile. She wiped her eyes with her sleeves, "...I hope that now you understand. You will take him in."
WuXian says sadly: "Of course."
Wangji, "En."
"..." Liu Yang sighs through her nose and closes her eyes. When she opens then again, she says, "But you still need Grandmaster Lan or Zewu Jun's approval."
The couple nod solemnly.
"Will explain to Uncle and Brother. Will tell them what you told us." Wangji says, and Liu Yang feels a peel of hope.
She fights back tears and rises to her feet. She then lowers her body all the way to the ground, something she would have never down before. She would bow to authority, to those of the higher power, but never in the way of making her seem submissive.
But she was so grateful, is so eternally grateful for meeting such good men.
She kowtows to them, "Thank you." A sob tries to escape her, the exhaustion from her journey from Meishan to Gusu, on top of her body that were still healing, but she manages to hold it in.
Liu Yang only lifts her body from the floor when Wuxian gets her up, and offers a nervous laugh, "No--no need to kowtow, no need for that."
Liu Yang bows her head, "I'll, I'll take my leave then." She dismisses herself and moves to the door.
Wuxian: "Liu Yang, can I ask," she looks at him, "Why not adopt Chen Jun as your own son? That way, he'll adapt to the changes more quickly. In addition, he's already known you for so long, you are basically his family."
Liu Yang doesn't agree or disagree, instead she says, "It's better for him this way."
'God damn it Liu Yang, stop being so cryptid!' Wuxian thinks.

Extra: Where's the angry grape? Some of you might be wondering where Jiang Cheng is. Originally, he was going to make an appearance in chapter 8. He was going to help Bing Wen to search for Liu Yang in the upcoming chapters.
But then I felt that that storyline would have dragged out too long, as Jiang Cheng wouldn't be in Meishan for no reason. The man is busy. And he sucks at communication, so god forbids that he willingly pays his maternal grandparents/relatives a visit.
So yeah. Bing Wen won't be working with Sandu Shengshou, even if that would get the job done much faster. You know, with Zidian and all.
Jin Ling was also going to be mentioned again. But I decided against it. I didn't know how to make that work without it just being plot convenient or fanservice.
So yeah, no angry grape.
