Liu Yang's Pov:
Liu Yang was fast asleep. It was a humid night yesterday, so her arms and legs were sticky with sweat. She sniffled as something tickled her nose and she sneezed, pulling her from her slumber.
She was about to try to sleep again when the paper door slid open and in came a little body. Ah-Chen dashes into her room and leaps onto her bed.
He crawled towards her and sits on her stomach, barely containing his fit of giggles. He cups her face with his small and chubby hands, giving her a toothy grin, and even she couldn't hold back a smile.
"Yang-jie! Yang-jie! It's morning!" Ah-Chen squeals. Liu Yang chuckles fondly and hooks her arm under his armpits and puts him on the floor. She sits up in her bed.
She hums, stretchimg her arms over her head until she heard a satisfying 'pop'.Then, she turns to Ah-Chen with a fond smile, "Good morning, Ah-Chen. Are your parents awake too?" She asks.
He nods folornly (if it even was possible for a five-year old to be capable of looking like that).
"Diē and Niáng said that today, you-you are going away. And-and they said that you will be leaving MeiShan and going someplace else! Yang-jie! Please don't go! Please don't go, Yang-jie!"
Ah-Chen was about to break into tears. "Why do you have to leave?" He asked timidly, which was not like the out-spoken boy.
Liu Yang sighed and lifted the boy into her arms and supported him at her hip. "I'm sorry Ah-Chen. But I have to go now."
She shushed him gently, "Little one, I have a job to do. My job is it save and protect the innocent. And I can't do my job if I were to stay here forever, don't you agree?"
Ah-Chen thinks for a while, before nodding his head.
Liu Yang smiled, "That's a good boy. Besides, I already told your parents that I'll come visit after every 3 moon cycles (~2 months)."
Ah-Chen's eyes sparkled, "Really!?" Liu Yang nodded in affirmation.
Abit later, Liu Yang had finished changing into a dark robe and had done her hair with a black ribbon.
"Must you really leave so soon Liu Yang?" Madam Chen asked, while putting a box wrapped in cloth into Liu Yang's satchel.
Liu Yang gave a brief nod. She cupped her hands and dipped her head in a bow. "Mister and Madam Chen, I am forever thankful for your warm hospitality for these months.
But I must leave now, for I am needed elsewhere."The Chen Family nodded, even when they only understand half of Liu Yang's reason for leaving.
Liu Yang bowed at the family once more before turning to leave. Before she could put a foot out of the door, Ah-Chen latched himself onto her leg.
"I'll miss you Yang-jie! Promise that you'll visit! And bring many, many snacks and toys when you do!" Ah-Chen grinned and his Diē nearly choked.
"*Chen Jun! Don't be rude!" Mister Chen scolded, but Ah-Chen paid no mind to his Diē's warning and Liu Yang didn't take offense.
Liu Yang laughed, "I promise." She said and pinched the little boy's cheeks before leaving the Chen family hut.
With a wistful smile and waving the family a goodbye, she holstered a bag of her belongings onto her shoulder.
She set off into the distance, wondering estactically which new wonderous place her feet would lead her to.
