Liu Yang's Pov:
Months later...
Liu Yang found herself in a lovely place called Gusu. She's heard many stories about the region and how it's filled with many esteemed clans.
Including the infamous Lan Clan with its strict upbringing of clan members and its four thousand over rules.
She even heard that Grandmaster Lan QiRen was thinking of adding another five hundred rules onto their wall! Liu Yang might be a law-abiding citizen but even she can't stand all those rules. Most of which were completely unnecessary and ridiculous!
Liu Yang had been strolling around in CaiYi, a city in Gusu. It was a lovely place with many vendors selling food, candies and hair accessories and more.
Her stomach let out a grumble as she smelled a whiff of something sweet.
"Oh no..." Liu Yang frowned as she looked into her money pouch. Inside, there was barely any money left. She only had enough to afford two more meals before she would probably have to resort to selling some of her items for money.
'Or,' she thought, 'I could work at that inn.' Said inn was a small establishment, owned by a nice, old man who the locals called 'Uncle Yü'.
At the age of 22, Liu Yang would easily be able to land a job at the inn.
By evening, she indeed got at job as a server. It wasn't the kind of job that Liu Yang had been hoping for, but it was better than having to shovel people's dung.
Being a server was fairly simple. Just greet the customers with wide smiles, lead them to a table, collect their order, relay the orders to the cooks and serve once the food was ready.
See, simple. But so, very boring.
Liu Yang was a cultivator for a reason. She loved the thrill of slaying monsters the of the night and the warmth she feels from helping those in need.
Like most rogue cultivators, she didn't belong to any clan. Which meant that she was free to roam wherever she please.
Her day ended with an exhausted body and sore cheeks from forcing her mouth to stretch. After helping the others with the clean up, she climbed up a ladder that led to a room that Uncle Yü had been so generous to lend to her.
After cleaning herself with a rag and a basin of water, she removed the ribbon from her hair and her outer robes.
She then laid on the straw mat that served as her bed, and with a hard pillow tucked under her head, she closed her eyes.
Before sleep overtook her, she made sure to remind herself to discuss with Uncle Yü about her salary the next day.
