"Mochi, are you sure you don't have something to say to me? Like some stuff about a number or a percentage, you know, just… something?"
Umi peered at the white kitten that was currently on her bed, lying comfortably on its back, while playing with a soft pillow. He looked cute but Umi couldn't be fooled anymore.
"Anything?" The woman added.
The kitten narrowed its eyes. "I don't know, you tell me. Do I have something to tell you?"
Umi, who was sitting on a chair on the side, leaned forward as she crossed her legs. She tilted her head to the side and playfully nodded several times. She then moved her right hand in circles as if to motion the kitten to remember something extremely important.
The kitten reluctantly got up. "I don't get it."
Umi frowned. It has been two weeks since the war has ended and the kitten still hadn't ever mentioned even an inkling of indication about the completion of her missions, not even once. Did the sassy kitten merely forget or the missions simply weren't completed yet unlike what she expected?
Sure, she was the one who said to the kitten to remind her of the mission progress only when it was already completed. Sure, she didn't want to ask first because that would make her uncool. Sure, she is very eager to leave this place. So, if the kitten is not talking to her about it, then her performance until now still wasn't enough?!
Umi clicked her tongue — a habit that she got after spending several years in this world. She then ruffled her floating hair in frustration. So, when will she be able to leave?
"How do you even brush that hair?" Mochi mused, his voice clearly indicates that he was making fun of Umi's situation.
"Ah, I don't brush this. It doesn't get tangled. See?" Umi brushed her hair with her hands. "It's like having a natural conditioner."
"So you're back to normal now?"
"What do you mean 'back to normal'? I have always been normal."
"Yeah, I'm not so sure about that."
"Oh, go away." Umi threw her hands in the air due to frustration.
The crystal glasses of the grand chandelier on the ceiling sparkled brightly as it swayed along with the movements of the wind through the open windows. The dazzling sunlight that passed through the windows brightened up the room, making the sparkling gold patterns of the columns and walls inside glisten even more.
Umi woke up this morning, feeling more fresh and rejuvenated than ever, to only find herself inside this place.
The palace of the South Kingdom.
Apparently, based on what Mochi said, Umi lost consciousness right after the King died. Although it was very humiliating, at any rate Umi got away from a particularly tiring occasion that occurred after the war — which is the tidying up of the aftermath.
From that point forward, Zevlin assumed responsibility for everything. When he was fully rested, he transported everyone to the South's palace. It took him three days to do that for the mere reason that he did the transportation by groups. All things considered, to his defense, their number was truly astounding, to begin with.
The male lead also sent a few of his people to go to Umi's safe place and retrieve the remainder of the people there. After only a week, they have already settled in this place. It is only after the second week that Umi was able to wake up, and that happened just a few hours ago, which happens to be this morning.
Zevlin chose the South, not because of some symbolism or for any particular figurative reason, but because it is the only palace in the whole continent that was not burned to the ground, thanks to a particular someone.
